Hi guys, I've been lurking here a while, so I decided to finally introduce myself to you good folks here.

My name is Michael, I'm 25, I live in southern Arkansas (we wear shoes now) and I'm the guy that fixes your copy machine. I'n the past I've worked as everything from a Diesel/Fleet Technician to a Computer Technician, just to give ya'll an idea of my background. Basically I'm a nerdy hillbilly that loves anything that twangs or slangs.

Now on to the good stuff: I just purchased a 1953 Chevy 210 coupe for my newest project. It's in barely running but solid shape and I got it for a song. I'm pretty sure I'll be picking the collective brains of most of you folks here and hopefully have some worthwhile input from time to time.

Sory for being so long-winded, just wanted to say Hi and let you know I really dig the site and I'm sure I'll be spending alot of time here. Thank you.

  2. Good intro. Now, lessee a photo of that little coupe. And if I remember right, 53 was the last year for the coupe body..

Howdy, Welcome to the HAMB, good intro, not long winded at all. Normally we have to threaten painful execution to get that much out of a person. [IMG]

    Thanks guys.
I've already made my first newbie mistake, it's a '53 2dr SEDAN, not a coupe, I don't know why coupe slipped out, I didn't even catch it until I re-read the posts. I took it around the block today and evaluated the rust situation, the floorpans are shot of course, as well as the passenger door and jam. There's some rust peeking out from under the passenger side back window trim, but I'm gonna try to get that knocked out quick before it's too serious. I'm gonna start stripping the interior and tackling the rust tommorow.

I'll snap some pics of the ugly beast then and post them here.

BTW, bolted under the dash on the passenger side is what appears to be a small electric heater thats wired to a 3 or 4 position bakelite looking toggle switch just to the left of the steering wheel. Anybody know anything about these? It certainly doesn't seem like a factory peice. It definatly seems to be of 50's vintage (cloth covered wiring, creme bakelite looking switch, etc). Any clues on this is welcome.

Also, I found what appears to be an under-dash flip down tissue box laying in the trunk. "Hudson" is stamped into the front cover. Is that a Hudson automobile peice, or was there an aftermarket company named Hudson?

Ill try to get some pics up tommorow.

  12. Can't help but wonder how that electric heater would work on 12 volts.... and as far as that tissue dispenser? Put it on e-bay so some 'chainer" with a crying doll leanin up against his concours correct 55 hudson hollywood hardtop can place it next to said doll with fresh kleenexes in it....
Take no less than $500 for it. The coupe/sedan mistake is no biggee. The sedans look better in my worthless opinion
