MEXICAN MERC 50...... pix

    Ken,i know...is very,very tricky to countor the upper part there...and there is more of course..i saved the inner brackets too..
    so,i took apart all pieces carefully,cleaned up,welded where necessay and start to figger out the correct measurements in the new pillar...
    the hinges position are crutial here...there is no margin of error,otherwise the full lines are wrong..
    both from the closer panels and the doors gap...they must be 3mm flat all around,no bondo or crap...only metal!!

    it's a rare aussie machine,but still works terrific!!

    Yeah,honestly i feel the same feeling for the good metalwork,when properly done!! Fully agree with you,is downright sexy.....

    About the name will be : BLUEY

    cause it's gonna be like a firey redhead.....full of body and soul!!!!

    Do you think it is possible to do suicide doors on the coupe?
    Been thinking about this for quite a while now.
    Has anyone seen one done at all?

    LIFESTYLZ...Oh yeah,there is some extra work to do but anything can be done,remember that...just about anything!!
    is only matter of patience,skills,sweat,money ,knowledge and so on...simple!!

    well,my way will be mixin some tequila and mexican beer with c02 in the weldin bottle,shakin and startin spot weldin...mmm,wait,not sure...well,probably i mixed up the sectioning job somehow!!!

    ah,now i remember...seriously can be done,seen couple of Mercs done that way,looks bitchinfor sure..but not practical!!

    personally i like the idea but the opening,door goes way up and i don't know..not my way!!but still i like the idea.

    you made me thinkin now,but perhaps on 1 of my nexr Mercs kustoms i will do it,why not??just to have something different..

    Actually i'm more intrigued with a full sectioning job...easy shit,ya know!!

    i don't have any pix by now to show the suicide doors job,but here in Hamb there must be someone with pix,for sure....

    LIFESTYLZ,...just a hint for ya...if you wanna suicide doors get some 56 to 59 F-100 door hinges,very simple and strong...
    just switch em from 1 side to another...
    sounds easy enuff???sled

    Also the first door fit and everything seems in the right place,no surprises so far...kinda happy about!!of course just presented the rockers in place,and from now on is all about fitting all new shape adjustments,all over....
    the door needs fully resto too..lower outside skin,new brackets and so on...will be like new soon.
    the 3/4 panel is not bad also,just a patch and GO!!!
    this side will be ready shortly....
    Got almost all new body panels ready for the passenger side already,so it will be much faster then....

    Id be a lot more into this thread if it wasn't so much show off and more letting the members know a thing or two on how things are getting done. Anyone can go turn on the tube and watch Rides for that.

    I personally dont know how two hands with tape on them make nice straight deep beads in metal. I use my bead roller for that, but I guess we won't find things like that out?

    awesome... pure envy right here.. i cant even figure out how to BEGIN to tackle my bad rockers... i guess im just a little inexperienced... :(... afraid to start cutting into my truck :(

    Unionvillehaunt,honestly i do NOT have a real bead roller yet..wanna buy one,but still i'll manage to build things with what i have in house...
    so,of course there are many years of experience on doing this...

    personally don't think even many of those guys showin off in acclameted TV programs can do this without correct tools...

    there are many hidden skilled guys around anyway...not necessarily in the show!!

    well,i never meant to give tech tips...one of these days perhaps

    Well, thats definately unfortunate you look at it that way. I guess this could have really been summed up in a before and after pic.

    One of the greatest things I love about this place is the people with the skill and knowledge sharing what they know to preserve the hobby. Not just folks showing how awesome they are. Good luck on the rest of the build. :rolleyes:

    actually i live in a very humble way...at list that's what i feel every day!
    but i never tought also to give tech specs and how to build things...
    not because i don't want so,simply i never tought about...
    i fully agree with ya in being in Hamb is a great place to share ideas and learn,i learn so much every day ...
    honestly you have the wrong impression or i written down the wrong way,most probably...
    so,if you need some tech stuff and can help you out,yeah..of course i will do that...feel free to ask...

    Unionville c'mon dude,,your a merc lover,,dont be a hater,,i thinki its awesome to check him out bringing back this car most would have passed on....i think that is insperation to alot of people here,.,
    ,,anyways...better than looking at a new 4-5 page thread each week about masking up a car and shooting a coat of base.:D

    I know a few guys here thas do the same thing without a bead roller( in fact i was the only one amongst them who had one) so what did they use? A brickies bolster and a swage block. Normally the swage female part is cut into a block of OZ hardwood to the size and then stamped into shaped with a hammer. it's been done this way for over 3000 years .
    Heres some blacksmiths swage blocks. Keep an eye out for some,usually they are too big for most folks to bother and are turned into lawn art or what ever.
    Swage ? ,thats what the lines in body work ( and Amour) are called,
    not Beads.
