We got about 2-3" on the ground here in Santa Fe. We haven't got much this winter, just a few inches here and there. But not too far north of here in Chama, NM they are getting hammered. They got over 30" over this past weekend, totaling over 110" this year! Those people are really having a tough time right now....structures aren't holding up...
come over and finish my driveway. sometimes i wish you were back in atlanta too. like the times when you dont come over and shovel my driveway.
We have 8-10 inches already and it's still comin down;could get 14 plus inches of this stuff. It's like a blizzard out there, windy and driftin big time. Sposed to keep this up til 6 PM tonite; gonna take awhile to dig out from this one. We're all gettin cabin fever here in the upper midwest.
In Corpus Christi, Texas yesterday it peeked out over 90 degrees setting a new record. We will typically get this type of warm up and then in a couple weeks cold and wet set in again.
The mountains around here have anywhere from 200+ to 300+ % snow pack with a 400+% moisture content for this time of year. The siskiyou pass on I-5 from oregon into Cali has been closed more times in the last month then the last 20 years I have lived here. The hiway over Crater Lake National Park is closed now because of trees brought down by the weight of the snow. Here in Grants Pass, we may or may not get snow in any given winter, and when we do even if its several inches, it will mostly be gone before days end. Thats why there's a sign here that says "It's the climate"
This "Global Warming Theory" is just not working out.... 12"+ here since last night and still snowing...
I don't mind the snow so much but when it snows and the wind blows 50mph now that gets old. yeah and so much for that global warming. what crock of shit. we haven't had snow on the ground for this long in 10 years
I'll take all the snow I can get. Here in Northern Minnesota, we've got a foot or so on the ground - could use more. I'll be spending Saturday riding a 485lb 150 Hp snowmobile all day. Bone stock it will do a 9 second quarter mile and top out at 120 on the lake. Beats the hell out of any hot rod I've even owned! Give this a try sometime, and winter won't seem so bad......
3 inches yesterday - 6 inches today- 6 inches tomorrow, and another BIG storm this coming weekend ALL on top of the 24 inches already on the ground. I fuckin hate winter... almost as much as I hate overcrowded sunny places with exorbitant costs of living, high crime rates, insane forest fires, tornadoes, scorpions, rattle snakes, alligators and a bunch of other shit I'm too cold to remember right now.
Could use some snow in central minn.Last few winters have realy sucked for snow.Glad i sold most of my sleds a few years ago, sucked having to trailer 100 miles or better just to ride.Seams the last few winters all the snow is south and east or we get dumped on it it melts in a couple of days.
casualty #1 my daily got stuck in a snow bank we pulled it out but busted the radiator. The snow bank was in the middle of the road!
we got a foot..., then it melted, then we got 10" .., then it melted, then a foot & 1/2..., then it melted......now it is snow pellets , then snow, .........this sucks big time !!!
the west is getting hammered this year high mark the shit out of it for me guys, ningningning man i miss missoula sometimes alittle boondocking also
I just looked out the window to check, and it's snowing so hard I can't see the cars in the parking lot. Now the "Storm Watch" team will be interrupting everything on TV, telling us its snowing, and that snow piles up and gets deep, and that we should keep watching so we don't get surprised to find snow on the cars. Sheesh! Its winter. It would be nice, though, to use that garage space for car parts instead of the shovels, snowblower, salt, ... Gonna be a long commute. I should head for home early to be safe, then check the H.A.M.B. on my own time.
Worked last night for the city of Racine waiting for the damn snow.Hardly anything came but the powers that be kept bringing extra crew in.Now all the regular snowplow personal are home burnt out from plowing flurries and the garbage truck drivers are out plowing now.The same drivers that they don't train on how to operate the equipment. We've got guys driving around in $100,000 loaders with wingplows coming into the shop all white knuckled and asking how the hell the controls work.Same shit every year. When theres no snow the DPW stand around with nothing to do.You would think it would be a great opportunity to train.Well at least it's job security for me.I'll probably have to fix 20 plows when I get in tonight. Then I get home this morning and the Kenosha school district is the only one who did'nt call off school and we were supposed to get hit the hardest near the lake.I kept the kids home anyway.Got up at 3pm and it's a blizzard.I think I'm going to lose 10 arborvitaes. The whole street is knee deep and the kids would have just been getting out of school right now.Bunch of idiots running the schools today.Well time for the 3rd cup of coffee and to get ready to bust my ass the next 12 hours.Looking forward to the Round up in April.
There's the right idea, it is winter after all, it snows here in the winter, always has; always will. Put on some clothes and go have some fun! Next weekend we're having a drag race on the local river, frozen of course, complete with a "christmas" tree. there will be sleds, quads, bikes and who knows what else out there. Should be fun. Winter isn't here too long, you have to take advantage of it while it's here, lots of great things to do if you're willing to adapt a little. (p.s. I am a real wimp in hot weather, anything over 80 and I'm whining)
A couple of Mondays ago it snowed 2 1/2 feet here in 12 hours.....I plowed our street through the night so my wife could go to work in the morning. Nice husband.....
I forgot about all the good times I had going to the ice races.Nothing cooler than cycles with studded tires racing on the ice. I got to find out if they still run then over here in Eagle Lake.Must be twenty years since I last went.
I feel for you guys. I really do. all I have to talk about is getting sunburned last saturday while I barbecued.
