Sacramento AMBC Winner is MERCULES

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by time-bomb john, Feb 10, 2008.

  1. Having been in both shows and travelling 12000 miles this is a real disappointment. Can`t post any pics because I didn`t take any photos of it.However I can say that the AMBR winner and the AMBC winner would fit right in if they ever parked together. You get the drift .....Time Bomb John

Just a matter of taste really, the guy who did a LOT of the body work likes it.

Sad thing is,I bet many hours were spent on that car by good craftsmen. Too bad the owner had no taste! I will never like those headlights...on anything!!! The hood looks like a 50 Chevy pick-up! YUK...

    A fool and his money...;)
I like tires on my cars, myself...
Like a big, incredibly detailed, painstakingly rendered backpiece on a fat chick . Lots of hard work, still a fat chick.

If I put away my traditional monocular I don't hate it.

The side trim looks sorta like something Joe Ballion would have done if '07 was '57.

Needs a bumper, and some WWW's, and Candy Apple Red instead of Blue.

John your car looked amazing, I studied it for about an hour!

However that Merc was not my cup of tea at all, in fact I did't know it was at the autorama! I must have walked right by it!

    Let me see...
    wide whites
    bumpers
new fenders with stock or frenched lights
Merc hood(instead of that Chevy pick-up,looking thing)
    The interior's gotta go!

give me a minute...i'll think of some more. Couldn't find any pic's of the back. I'm sure it's just as bad as the rest of it! I saw what he started with...the before is MUCH better than the after!!!

I've seen that car and it's ****in ugly. In my opinion. Perhaps if you like Starbirds stuff, mixed with street machines stuff... you might like it. At least it comes from the other side of the country.

Its an expected reposnse from a trad hot rod site, I'm kind of the same way about it. But its well done for that type of car (non trad) and the craftsmanship is excellent.

FantaC is VERY modest. Its my understanding (correct me if Im wrong John) most of the work is his. Not so much the styling but the execution. Pity the owner doesnt publicly recognise this. :( which might not be a bad thing seeing the response above. :) He is quite handy with steel to say the least.

Hey mate where are you in Vic? What car are you driving?

    LOL
I did about 60% of the body work and designed the interior and built it
Please keep in mind that i am a self taut back yardie
so i am happy that something i worked on is even being mentioned
Wot worst than being talked about ?
    Not being talked about lol
Good or bad thanks for your comments
    Cheers John Gilbert

I looked at his web pic's,and his work is awesome! Just the hardtop work alone, would be *****in on another style Merc. You can tell it was built with skilled hands. It's too bad that your work has to be attatched to that style of car. That just means that the other rats will come to the cheese! Some other rich dumb*** will say "I saw your work, can you build me a POS too?" That's the thing that happens when you have a business. You build what the customer wants...no matter how BAD their taste is. I'd like to see some of your other cars you've done,John.

It should be, of course, not be a concern anyway, as you, I ***ume, know the veiwpoint of this board...
