Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Evel, Feb 9, 2008.

1. In the end Evel its your car and you have to live with it. Its great to see a well detailed and finished rod, sure makes for a change nowadays....

What Stroked said nails it. Either work boots or dress shoes. The slicks make it looks like it's ready for a fight. I love it either way! When you run the slicks you could run some blackwalls on the front, that would toughen up the whole look.
A beautiful car is like a beautiful woman, who's looking at the shoes?

I love the coupe..
I think the stance looks nice in some pics
In the others it looks a little weird, like said before, needs more height in the rear.
Probably have to see it in person to really appreciate it.

Sam.. Stance and nice stance are different.
imo Some cars look ok with no rake but the wheels, tires & chop have to be dead on for the look. But I agree a hotrod should have a hotrod rake.

Back end up, back end down, slicks, streets, stance, rack, WHATEVER! That is one slick ride, and I'm jealous. You've done well. Color is perfect, the whole package is awesome. Beautiful ride.

Wow...this took a turn....

I have to agree with striper... Stance and Rake are two diffrent things... i can say that
car has a low stance or that car has a mean rake..and you would get what i'm saying..

although I'm a californian,,, the car defiantly has a East coast / Mid west "Stance"
that being said... the car sits with a slight "rake" but when I sit my fat *** in it...its
sits even... again
If I raise it any higher it will look broken
due to the sweep in the front of the frame... And I think when you see it in person you can see the slight bit
of At***ude or "Rake" hahahahahahaa

I also think that the Firestone Slicks would be a good mix of the WWW and Slicks that
would make it look good...

the problem with the slicks I have...the skinny whites throw it off... if I ran these with
skinny whites in front it might look better..but then it dates the car to later 60's..

so the solution:

The car will have the Bias plys on forever and when I can either make 16 chrome reverse
for the Hurst Firestone or if Hurst makes those in a 15 I'll make a set... Then I have a plan
to make the car a "Weekend Drag Car" Configuration with a few bolt on / removal parts to make the conversion but noting permanent..its going to RULE...I have it all mapped out...i'm just really broke :D it will be neat to bring the car to March Meets as the drag style and then a few weeks later hit the show as a show car...

I think this picture shows the "Stance / Rake" the best..you really have to see in person
I took 30 shots and most of them are hard to tell the "Stance"

that all being said... Thanks for the compliments...

Is that driveway at a slope, or does your car have a rake?

Just flipping you ****, I like the car. Personally, I would have the *** end up a little higher, but that's just me.

My first thought: that body looks perfectly straight, I can really respect that. Great color too.

first of all, the grille is much better now. i didn't like the look of the slicks at first, but that rear 3/4 shot has grown on me. looks tough in that shot, for sure. maybe with blacks up front, that would balance it out more. just think it needs a more narrow WWW slick, as is. i dunno.. anyway, rad car man.

Ya the perferated grille looked cheap...Plus i wasn't trying to compeat with Skratchs car :D
so that went and all the rest of the holes went too... Perferated is sooooooo 2006..

the *** end is perfect to me... i'm not into the "heavy Rake" look it's hard enough to
see out the windshied when it sits even,,, like I said it looks BROKEN if too high,..

So wait... are you saying that if it goes any higher, that it will or won't look broken? :D Hahaha, just f-ing with you man...

I liked it ***-down, and I like it ***-level. Your A is awesome, and like you said, all the nitpicking stops when you see it in person... the car has such a presence, and is SO right-on with that 1958 vibe that you can't help but be STOKED by it!

Definitions require context to be valid and to mean a damn thing.

Rake is just a component of stance... Stance is a compillation of rake, ride-height, and wheel position in relation to the body.

The term "Nice Stance" is a compliment of an outstanding characteristic. It indicates a departure from stock. Cars are relatively flat and high from the factory. A flat car, even if it's lower than stock, isn't siginificant enough to warrant comment. Therefore in the context of hot rodding, flat or low isn't a "stance."

Stance is the at***ude of the car... Flat isn't an at***ude... Low isn't an at***ude... Laying frame isn't an at***ude...

Also, in Hot Rodding... Stance is everything...

Dammit! just raise the back! (Hahahaha). It's perfect the way it is! The slicks to me mean one thing and one thing only....Race....Drag Racing. I think it doesn't look too out place, I mean ****! look what's up front! But the white walls gives it a lil' something, something, u know. Hope to see cruising in SoCal soon!

Don't make fun of my new ride. I worked all weekend to get that rake on it. It should come up a little more in the back when i get my bigger tires.:D

I like the Bias over the slicks better on your car.
