this was my old 48 austin streetrod that was Jim Oddy's(Buffalo NY area) old car BB/GS,
and my new racetruck project is a 40 dodge PU with a 41 willy nose on it.
and my old austin PU too.
mine were not the nose high gassers style but they were gassers and the new truck will run D/Gas(10.0-10.6 range)

As you probably know, Oddy's car is back in the Buffalo area now, and being restored by a local gasser enthusiast. It's about 2/3 finished. I talked to the guy , and saw the car this past August. He's doing a nice job on it. Truely a great piece of western NY drag racing history(and beyond) there!

Yes I know John, we have talked a few times since he found the car up in Canada, when I had it it was still like when Oddy raced it ,full cage and interior, except for the paint job and wiring for the street, but over the years the cage was cut out the interior was replaced:mad: :( . John is doing a great job at bringing it back to the way Oddy raced it, another friend of mine restored and shows off the old "KING KONG" anglia of Kohler brothers fame

I have hundreds of gasser pics saved on my computer:cool: Ron...

Instead of independent front suspension, they use solid(or straight or dropped) front axle.Ford used solid axles in all their cars up till 1948. GM offered independent front suspension much earlier(30,s or maybe even earlier). The reason for the solid axles on Gassers were to get the front of the car up in the air, so more weight would transfer to the rear tires for traction. Hope this helps.

I don't have any pictures of it yet, but I came across a 1952 henry gasser that was builtin the early 70s, straight axel with the engine set back into the pass. compartment, with motor in it an tunnel ram sitting on it is in the windshield, set back 12 inches, has a 12 point cage that needs replaced.
Will post picts in the near future, have a set of american 200s wheels with hurst slicks, that are new, bought a set of ET's gasser frt runners, still picking up parts for it that dates in the 60-70's. GASSERS RULE

'31 Chevy 5 window coupe - originally built as a hot rod in '68. Bought the rod in '95 complete with a 283 chevy, turbo 400 and early 55 - 64 chevy ham rear. I gave her the "gasser treatment" sometime in 2004 - straight axle for the right "nose bleed look" 6-twos, open headers, Mickey Thompson pie crust 8.20" whitewall slicks and black primer of coarse! Now I am getting ready to tear her apart again and do a complete restoration of a early '60's metalflake BLOWN Altered Gasser, equipped with a 392 HEMI MONSTER!!! And street legal!!!
