Nice collection ! The realism of that die cast kid is amazing !:D

Bob, I must've missed that one. When I seached I tried things like : Die cast, 1:18 scale.....and models...the last one had about 5 pages relating to model A's... I'll check that thread out.

    Thanks,
    Todd

groucho your post # 21 describes my life exactly 10 years ago as well, now I have 3500+ hotwheels.
It was fun as hell, I lived in austin tx at the time, and I would start at midnight and hit 6 different walmarts , breaking open cases and getting good stuff to trade and keep. I wore out a set of tires on my suburban doing that.
then I got a job at target and it got really bad...........
I finally quit when I caught my self buying tuner cars, because they had "good detail" and noticed that I had 15 different red #8 dale jr. cars ect, ect...
now I just buy stuf that I like, I think the sickness is done.

  6. Yes, you showed me @ Mooneyes. Xlnt detail

You fella's that are keeping them in the boxes are missing out. I did that for a few years and one day decided to "get crazy:D" and open one of them up. They are much more enjoyable to look at out of the box. Who cares what they may be worth someday. Enjoy them now!

The wife/boss told me if I would quit spending so much on the toys I'd get the real one done sooner.... I didn't have a real good argument against that. So omagine 13 paper boxes full of all Cadillac toys in the attic & me working to finish the 'real' one.;)
    Al:cool:

  12. EXACTLY! Some of my friends leave em in the packages on display. You walk into the room, and all you notice is a bunch of boxes or packages. You don't/can't even notice the contents. A complete waste

I was bitten by a HotWheels bug for awhile too.....but the "collectors" were too PUSHY so i kinda quit....had a friend that would go and order two CASES of HotWheels when they were on sale. We'd open 'em up and I'd pick out what I'd want....:D

My collection of die-cast cars consists of a bunch of HotWheels/Johnny Lightnings (new and old), a few 1:18 musclecars and a shitload of 1:18 drag cars.....mostly 60's-early 70's Super Stocks and Pro Stocks.....also a limited Matchbox musclecar collection that was put out years ago in 1:43. You'd get one every month....for a total of 12.

It's all scattered throughout the house and garage....I could probably E-Bay it all and build a '32......hahaha!

  14. Here's a few more pics:

The Modellhaus is a rotating jewelry display cabinet that holds primarily 1/64th and 1/87th vehicles with a bunch of 1/144th cars.

The other one is just Nomads,Safaris, and other wagons.

  16. I got those too. They're very well done, aren't they? PS-I've seen one or two besides the 12 somewhere. But I have no idea where they were available. I think one was a Camaro in a different color than the black one?

Oh really??? Was the Camaro blue???
Hmmmm....I've seen other Matchbox cars in this size, but not the same quality as the one's from this set. I do have a couple of Franklin Mint cars that are REALLY close to the Matchbox cars, but with opening hoods and doors.....but the Matchbox cars are more accurate to scale....I ordered 'em just to get the Mopars, but ended up keeping 'em all!

    Yeah......I'm a geek......:D

I shall be looking for these in the stores... very nice work. And I thought I was done collecting cars since I ran out of room!

I don't collect as much 1/18 stuff as I used to, I have 100 or so but only set out a few and then 'rotate' them every so often.
    I'll post a pic later.

A few years back I sold my Hot Wheels / Johnny Lightning collection for $18,000.00 and the buyer got a good deal. Now I only collect anything 57 Nomad or Rat Fink stuff. I think RETARDS are KOOL :D

Do you guys that take them out of the packages still save the boxes, or just rip into them and toss the boxes? I used to take mine out and agree they look better that way, but my OCD couldn't allow me to toss the boxes, so then I had to find a place for the cars AND the packaging... which sorta got outta hand in a hurry, so I just keep most of em in the boxes... i still have a whole closet full of white boxes from my Franklin and Danbury Mint cars.... They'll probably never be back in the boxes again, and i won't likely ever sell them, yet I can't toss the boxes. Anyone else have this problem, or am I just a wack job?

  25. It's been a while, but I thought it was white.

  26. I take em all out of the packages. If it's a so-so piece, I toss the package. If it's of some substance, I toss the box in the closet

Maybe retarted was a strong word...and not to bring this part of the post back....but I think it's kinda goofy to have a post showing off all the stuff you bought....not stuff you built, modified, or just assembled....but just stuff you went to wal mart or the swap meet or wherever and handed somebody some cash so you could stick it on your shelf. The majority of this stuff is new, as in within the last 10 years.....if it were all vintage/original stuff then I could see how it is relevant.

Not a car guy? I didn't know having thousands of dollars worth of toy cars was one of the qualifications. Oh well.

Back to your showing off now, don't mind me.

  29. I have a total of 10,000 cars, and some bikes mixed in there too. Been collecting since I was 9. Still have every Hotwheel in every color, for the first three years. Have all my Matchbox cars from 69 to 72,and ALL the boxes too! Also have many Corgis,Polytoys,Dinkys,Racing Champions,Ertl, few Mustle Machines, and some off brands. I also bought the first run of West Coast Choppers. There's guy who goes to the Primer Nats, and the LARS and GNRS,who has a buddy who custom paints Mercs, and i'm a sucker for Mercury diecasts...I know my Hotwheel collection is worth some BIG bucks, but they were my toys when I was a kid,NOT collectables. Now I only buy Hotrods and customs. Nothing else.

    Sean72,
When are you gonna do some Mercs?

  30. Interesting!
Bought my hubcaqps for my Merc...didn't make them!
Bought my my steering wheel...didn't make it!
    Bought my carburator...didn't make it!
Bought ALL my Hotwheels, when I was a kid...didn't make them!
    See my point,Fidgiter? Most car guys are car fanatics. Car pictures,car shirts,car hats,car songs,car websites,car magazines,car toys!,etc. I could go on...
