I stopped by Alex's shop last night to drop off some more parts and was stoked to see the results of the first coats of clear. As of last night the trunk, hood and cowl had received three coats of clear. Everything will likely need a few more coats before the cutting and buffing begins.

I carried the cowl piece outside and it was just electric in the sunlight. We're creating a monster!

Alex was also getting going on the knob grille. The perforated metal inserts are cut out. We worked out the knob layout, but I forgot to get a shot of it. I guess you'll just have to wait until next time. Chrome knobs and REAL Lucas headlights......SWEET!

    This just in.......

    Check this out!

Skate Fink PM'd me out of the blue and offered these NOS custom taillight lenses to me for the Starliner. All he wants is a good photo of the car with them on. I offered to pay him but he refused.

    TOO FREAKIN' COOL! THANKS DUDE!!

We went over the tape tons of times to get it right. There are just a couple of glitches.

We will be adding light blue striping on the edges of the panels.

How many gallons of clear is gonna take to level out all of those layers of paint?

Beautiful. Not trying to second guess you, but with panels that clean it seems a shame to stripe....

Yet another mindblowing update. That car is going to be one of the one's I remember in my old age. Hope I can get somewhere to admire that paint in person.

I have to admit, the painting of cars wasn't something that did much for me but seeing the work you're putting in this is pretty cool. Gonna look good with the knobs too.

Kirk, serious question just because I don't know and am sure you and Alex can give me an answer.

If you are going to strip it why not do it before the clear? Is there an adhesion problem or a chemical embalance between the different materials?

Just curious. Thansk for keeping us posted and as everyone else said, I cant wait to see it done.

When I first saw the pictures of the lace I thought it was gonna be too much, but buried under the blue candy it just gorgeous. I can't wait to see the car finished, it's gonna be great.
