Oh, yeah. Im collecting parts to build my 48 A-40 Devon into a gasser. No pics yet but the car is bog stock minus motor and is the same colour as the one in my avatar.
Looking for a good 392 Hemi (Here in Oz) and a QC rear end.........

  4. Why a QC Doc?

  5. Yeah, it will work, but those tail lights will look shit, ruin the whole package, better send them to me so i can take care of them.

I have an odd liking for them, plus I don't want to run around everywhere like the car is still in second.
I like the idea of changing the ratio to go to the dragstrip but in normal driving run something easier to live with.
Thinking about a Winters set up, ease of getting parts but I'm open to ideas.

Well, it's not quite GASSER, but it'll have to do! I can't cut it up because it's a factory "A" code. Guess I'll just have to cruise around at the Round-up, it's too late of a model! See y'all around though!

Not to turn this into tech thread or anything but I was wondering is there a standard height for this style od car/truck? I mean in the class that they would run in were they required to run a certain ground clearance? Thanks

they were not regulated by how high they were, the late 50' early 60 gassers were raised in the front to get better weight transfer as the tires of the day were not very good. as the 60's progresed the tires got better and as the cars became faster they lowered them and narrowed the rearends to tuck the tires inside the body to get more speed and make the cars more stable at higher speeds.
in the late60's and early 70's some of the cars went from willys, austin and anglias to the mustangs, opels and camaros to get better arodinamics and by the mid 70's the gassers were just about gone.

so a gasser style car could be a nose high one or a slamed down one it just depend on what time fram you are refuring to. Ron....

Man- You guys have some really nice stuff!!
I was thinking falcon in my head for awhile now----you guys just made my mind up-I'll have the balls to put an axle under that one though----just don't with the 55'......atleast not yet.

I guess it about time to start the flaming-I just got this one first of the year---
Not there yet but getting there. deff still in "bs" mode for right now.
Flipped the spring placement on the rear end- I think I am going to drop it--it raised more than I though it would...live and learn.

car was gutted interior wise-scored the seats for free and the panels i made.
front end rebuilt-yeah i put discs on it.
other than that doing it piece by piece.
    The tilt front comes saturday:D

cut me some slack on the pedal welds- i just learned aluminum:eek:
the green on the wheel and pedal is the color I am painting the car-
behind the paint divider I am going to gold leaf "Easy Money" .
The name was suppossed to go with my straight axle theme and drill the axle out and replace with gold dollars.

I just picked up this project, I've wanted a tri-five to build a semi era correct gasser since I was 14... I'm 26 now. I've got a Dana 60 rear w/ 4.56's, Big Block chevy w/ Hilborn injection and staggered stacks... fairly good start I guess.

I'm Working On A 54 Ford 2 Door Wagon Old Gasser Style. Got This From A Buddy That Needed Money So I Helped Out. It Has A 390,4 Gear And 9 Inch From A 68 Mustang. I Got An Econline Front For Free ( Whole Damn Truck ) That I'm Just Starting To Put Under The Front. The Only Reason I'm Doing A Gasser Is Because The Rear Fender Wells Have Been Radius Way Back In The 60's So To Me It Was A Natural. If Anyone Has Pics Of Old Gasser Wagons Please Send Them My Way. I'll Post Pics Soon I Just Got A Huge Shop So When I Get All Moved It I'll Post Up
