Didn't mind at all.. I saw that original post and wanted to comment but got side tracked and forgot about it..

Now... You all remember a few pages back I asked if anyone had Pics of the "TO PLEASE A LADY" car..

    Heres why..

When they filmed that show, they "rented" a real Indy teams car. Well, just like any other movie car.. there was more than one ready incase of an accident. Infact, there were two. The one in the show is the same one throughout, and it was the teams actual Indy 500 car.. Race ready. But, the team built a back-up car that was totally complete except for paint! YEP!! BARE METAL!! It was a front wheel drive, Offy powered Monster. well, after the filming was complete, the second car that was never finished had it wheels and front suspension removed.. and they crated it ALL up and shoved it aside...

FAST FORWARD 60 YEARS!! It SURFACED and was purchased buy a private collector. It has been brought HOME to Indiana and is awaiting Restoration (Cleaned up and reasembled)

This was one of those cars that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up!

    Enjoy.

Thats the rear axle and hub sticking out and the low slung header mounted to the engine.

That says "OK, Feb 6th 1950" I begged these guys to convince the owner NOT TO RESTORE IT!! (Even offered "phisical harm" if they do) Just clean it up and reassemble it!! Put in your two cents and PRAY the owner see's this post!!

THERE ONLY ORIGINAL ONCE!! and besides, if there was ever a car you can "Correctly and historically" leave bare metal, THIS IS IT!!

Its good to see people with money spending it on old race cars.. Instead of horses, boats, and gambling. It drives me nuts when drive by a Big million dollar horse farm and I think to myself.. "Damn that guy could have a hell of a collection of race cars and a track to run them on!!":D

Wow,one the finds of the 21st century!!. A 'new' indy roadster!.
That has to rank alongside the discovery of the prewar german grandprix cars in the former Soviet Union.

The caption is just a little off. Doug had just put the SESCO in the No.#1 car for Tat. Earlier in the year (1970) just after the race at the Astrodome, Doug had switched to the SESCO for Jimmy but since it wasn't totally reliable yet, they ran the Offy at the Hut Hundred in September.

Dean Butler? I don't think so.. because he would have Zakira's restore it, and he is living in England now. A lot of his personal cars are there or being shipped there. This was not at Zakira's.

I do not no who owns the car now, I just know who is restoring it.

The car was at Jerry Week's shop about a month ago.

On another note: (And I didn't reply earlier because I was overwhelmed by the whole thing). The pictures of the Agajanian car early on in the thread intermixed the champ car and the sprint car. They were totally different cars but in the same era. Look closely at some of them and you will note the small "jr" following the number.

On a further note: Josh; you and Roy C. did a hell of a job (it was sorta like "Dueling banjos") in posting not only obscure pictures but pictures of obscure subjects. It was a great trip even though I got aboard late and it took me two days to wade thru all of it.

Yes.. Thank you. I noticed the grilles on the 98 car were totally a different shape. I mentioned there maybe being two of them, but I truly didn't know how many there could have been.

    anyways, welcome! Post some pics!!:D

I knew I recognized the black car with the hemi. It was in the EMMR museum at Latimore when we were there for the showdown last May.

Here is a picture of it then.

    A shot in the dark,
looking for some information and possibly finding a car. Early to mid 60's Micro Midget racing in Bartlesville, OK and Coffeyville, KS. My father used to race with Johnny Pearson, Red Coonfield, and several others. My father is Joe Morris from Carthage, MO and raced a red Micro Midget # 43, it ran a Mercury outboard engine that was mounted in front. I believe a class record holder in 1963. Car was last seen in Pittsburg, KS area.
Mrs. Coonfield in Coffeyville, KS used to keep info on a lot of cars and drivers during that era...but believe has passed on. Any info you have would be appreciated. alan.morris@leggettmachine.com

    Thanks,
    Alan Morris

GOD DAMN I LOVE THE MILE. That building in one is still there. "Nothing like a straightaway that disapears on the horizon!"

Notice the GOODYEAR BLUE STREAKS!! Kinda rare. Thats what my dad runs on his Hilborn truck. They match Firestones front and rear excactly but they have a little Goodyear "Diamond" on the outter edge inbetween each row of tread.. Oh.. and they have a beautiful blue stripe on them.. VERY COOL!

    Thanks, Johnny Fast.

Today, still, In OZ and NZ his name brings memories for a lot of race fans, many of whom would not be anywhere old enough to have seen him race (my dad knew him before WW2!).He was really nice guy ,the nickname was a result of his skill as a driver,'Drive like Hell...' not a personality thing ha ha ha :D

  30. That car with Jerry Richert in the seat was Wagner's "cigar" car....don't ask me why they called it that. :)

We raced against that car when it ran as a super in later life ('68 - '71) with Jerry "Haircut" Lepinski driving. It rarely lost a race.

Frank Wagner's son, Dennis, has this beautiful restored V8-60 midget.
