This is my 48 chev . The first picture is how it looked a week after I got it just lowered These pics are during the chop And here it is after the chop
I have never been a big fan of that body style, But damm bro yours looks good with that chop. Nice work
Just thought I would give a little update on my 48 . This winter I am doing a chassis swap Im using an 81 el camino . Im reusing the wireing harness , brake system and steering . I am replacing the tired old 350 thats in it with a nicely warmed over 355 sbc . Its getting a airbag system so it will sit on the ground when I want it to . . I am also doing a few custom touches to it , 47 buick hood vents , 58 impala roof scoop/vent and tear drop skirts . I am still trying to figure out what bumpers I want to run , I know I want to change them just havent made my mind up on which ones . My 500.00 donor chassis
nice ride . my wife would cry if she seen that elky we used to have one just like it same color and wheels ..
Believe me the el camino wasnt in very good shape . It was a true minnesota car/truck . it had alot of rust , the only thing that kept my feet off the ground was the carpet
Something wrong with me puitting one on my roof ? And yes I know its not really a vent and that its just cosmetic
Just seems like you'd be messing up a nice flowing roof with an add on that's from a different era. Your car though. I just think those vent belong on 589 chevies. The rest of the car is spot on!
Thanks ,yours looks cool also , Its really not that bad , I used a power front seat out of a late 90s buick this way I can set it so I look straight out the windsheild . The reason I went to 6 1/2 is I was trying to get the roof line to flow into the trunk line . I think it turned out just as I wanted it to
New progress pics coming soon . The chassis is all redone . I rebuilt the brakes completely , rebuilt all suspenion with poly tie rods and bushings . The bag kit is in and it lays the frame on the ground . This weekend Im going to be pulling the body off the original chassis and maybe have the time to start putting the el camino chassis under it .
this pic shows what was left of the el caminos body , I called it el camino in a box pic shows 48s body up off original chassis about to pull it out . the chassis on the left is the el caminos chassis
these pics are as you can see the engine back in , I ended up having to move the engine back about 8" . When I first put the engine back in it sat way too far forward ,about 10 off the fire wall and the water pump was sitting where the radiator was .
I wanted to put he battery in the trunk but didnt have enough space seeing I have my air bag system in there and had to put a moon gas tank in there also (for the time being) I was able to fit a tray under the hood luckly it just clears the hood when its shut new shifter installed lokar 23" double bend
Pulled it out under its own power . Its not sitting low enough in the rear for me (yet) the frame sits on the differential and the front cross ember is about 1" off the ground . Im going to be doing a rear frame knotch so when its aired out the skirs sit on the ground .
You killed on that chop. I liked the 3 1/2" one too, but yours nailed the roofline. I will leave my aerosedan alone, however-too much work.
