Ok this is going to sound really green but my buddie has just offered me a 426? Lincoln big block and a early 20's dodge bucket for a trade. The motor is huge and broke a cherry picker pulling it. My question is what do you have to do suspension wise to carry a monster like that? The motor must weigh over 900lbs!

Pitch the genny frame on the s**** pile, build one out of 2X4 tube, use a mid to late 40s spring and axle on the front end, and cross-brace the **** out of everything. That should be adequate beef spring/axle wise considering how much total weight the original cars were holding up. Geez with that motor in a bucket a two speed trans is almost overkill.

  3. Build it on a boxed A frame, see above for all else.
I have seen 1000hp motors in a boxed A frame, weight may not have been a prob but the torque was killer.

The A frame is a fine idea usually but in this case by the time you box, brace, and modify it to accomodate the huge motor and tiny body you've done nearly as much work, if not actually more, than building a custom frame would require. It would make sense if you were using an A body but in this case I'm not sure it wouldn't be more hindrance than help.

I'm just getting things together for it. The build wont start till after "paso". I have a good idea were I want to go with the build and yes it will be a street job! I dont want it to look like a fad T or anything like that I'm thinking more of a early drag style modified with some 7'' wide cheater slick on the back.Goin to call her the street sweeper
