    ahh the wood! in my car it s all in nice shape all but the driver door hinge area. so i ll replace that with some steel. all the wood in the floor area is going to be converted. and a new floor is in order to clear all the running gear. eventually all the wood will be traded out for steel but for now the wood works.

  8. With the drama, I might've missed if the body is gonna be sliced and diced . I don't like seeing (what looks to be) such a nice stocker sliced and diced. Oh well.

  19. First things first..... fat girlfriends kick ass.

    What a nice car to start with. Sure beats working with rusty scraps. It's your build & you can (& should) do what you want with it. If you decide to not run the hood, I'd seriously be interested in it.

  24. I forgot to throw my 2 cents in on the build, (and the rest of the drama.) That's a beautiful car. I'm glad you don't plan to cut it all up. But if you did it isn't any of my business. It appears the seed of most of the rude coments may lie in jealousy over starting with such a clean car to begin with. I'd love to have one that nice and I'd take it in a totaly different direction from where you are going with yours, that's hot rodding. It's nobody elses business what grill shell you run or how you build your chassis. Most of the guy's on here are a priceless resource and can offer a lot of guidance. Unfortunatly, there are some who lack the social skills required to interact in a public forum. Build your car how you want it, build it safe for your and for your family's sake but most of all for my sake because I may see you out on the road some day:D

    Assuming the scrub line isn't a problem,
    what is so incredibly "dangerous" about Underslung suspension ?

    Take a look at sprint cars for some ideas on the steering.

    When biulding my rod, I also went with an underslung frame, but wanted a different suspension. That's how I came up with the pullrod rocker arm system. It would have been much easier to run a front tie rod, but with the Buick brakes, it would have been impossible to get the tie rod ends out far enough for correct Ackerman. Locating the tie rod behind the radiator would have been a problem because when you steer, the tie rod gets closer to the axle. I made these steering arms after looking at some sprint car setups. The tie rod doubles as a headlight mount! Yes the lights move with the steering and are unsprung, but so far it has worked just fine.

    Good luck with your project, but most important.. Take time and go to the effort of making it right and making it safe!

    I find the scrubline to be a problem, but maybe I'm being a wimp... nah... I drive to hard and to much to get past that part... but i would have brakes on the front as well....

    But I see the same scrubline problem coming with Mr. Knuckles set up...
