Sunday models

  1. This was my entry in a DPMCC contest. Everyone used the same body. 60 Ford Ranchwagon. I went with dual inline Hemis:

  2. I like to mess with the engines.I do some physics defying imagineering sometimes, but the ideas for these two were based on actual operating 1:1 engines.

    Where in the world did you find that 55 ragtop? Is that a resin-cast model? I don't ever remember a 55 Poncho ragtop being produced! I dig it!

    That's one of the re-issued JoHan promo kit hardtops with the roof cut off.... The quasi-Carson style top was made by modifying the top from a diecast '53 Cadillac lowrider.

    Hello and great work. I have a question for Primersfiner though. Is that good old bondo that you are using and how did you mix it. I look forward to Sunday models.I enjoy looking at the work that gets posted here. It is far easier to built an old rod in this scale then build a original one, plus the wife is a lot happier with the small amount I spend on models then I would spend on areal car. I am working on a 36 Ford 5w. I will post pictures of it soon.

    Regular auto filler (Bondo) mixed just the same for a 1:1 car is the best filled to use. The model fillers tend to shrink a lot, the bondo wont. all model paints will stick to it too.

    I also have a tudor I chopped that's getting little bits done here and there. Using a Paxton huffed Y-block for motivation. Had to re-do the pulley setup to make it more prototypical.

    Hopefully I'll have some new stuff next week to contribute. :rolleyes:

    This is sort of OT but who doesn't like a "barn find" LOL. A guy said he had some models he was interested in selling. I went and looked. Mostly 1980's stuff. He said he was into models then and would go to the shows and he had some stuff he had built that was pretty nice but not anything I was interested in. In another box was this. (I figure you may recognize it) LOL

    <img src='http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-4/151282/truckResized.JPG' width=800 height=600 >

    He said he bought it at a model show 20 some years ago. Original from way back when. A decent build but you can see where some excess glue has browned. He said he was going to do it over but never did. I'm glad he didn't and I bought it.

    I am working on a 60s monogram 34 Ford coupe,it was a built model I got off ebay and I am restoring it with the chassis from the 90s version 33 coupe which is based off the 60s kit. I used the chassis and tires from the 90s kit and the normal size 5 spokes from the revell 37 Ford coupe,the 34 came with the optional pontiac motor which I am retaining and I am going to keep the 34 in the maroon it came moulded in. The 60s kit also came with the convertible parts so I will be using the original chassis from the 34 and building a primered roadster with a 39 to 48 style flathead from another monogram kit and the stock wheels and tires. Hey Nitro glad to see ya over here. You will get all kinds of ideas.

    Well a few of us including Nitro Marty did an overnight build last night this morning. We kept track of each other by emails. I did this T Touring on an A chassis. Been wanting a real one so I thought I would try it in scale. Tonight I sat the T roadster body on the chassis. Kinda like that too. Probably have to build another chassis.;)
