hehe the 4 door was a pretty fun build, 2 doors are blah, you need more doors!! and the '36, lets see if i can find some older pics of that one...
Anothger diorama I did in the late 80's. I started another diorama of a early 50's speed shop but never finished it.
Being it's Sunday and all, here's a few: Ertl 1/18 you-build AG '55, bumper left off, old decals added (I cut the S off of the A/GS since it's not supercharged!): Original AMT '62 Impala paintless build--duplicates one I built in the early '70s: Rat Packer build-up with '70s AMT '55 Nomad decals:
Man. All these photos are sure hard on my dial-up. This is some great work, guys. Love the chopped Merc, Otto's wrecker, old garage dios, Sorry, for the brevity of comments, computer refuses to load all the fotos, goes to red X,s after so many.
need to learn how to post pics so i can show you what my son is up to. So far he only finished 6 models in 3 years but has about 10 projects for even longer. He has converted an edsel to an edsel ranchero still has a long way to go. cut the roof of on amt 34 ford and added a merc motor.
Robert Hayes made it and i think he's not making them anymore. here is a link to his site http://www.largescalemodeler.com/welcome.html keith
Here is a model I did about fifteen years ago, a mid sixties injected fueler. It has a Revell Tony Nancy chassis( a great kit by the way). Hand formed aluminum body painted pale yellow. Injected Chevy motor from a AMT Nomad kit fully wired, fuel lines and linkage added.
Here's 3 I have on the go: 1/16 55 Nomad that i just stripped a 1/4" of paint off! and a Nova Gasser powered by an arias Hemi and last, my Hayden Proffitt 62 Here's an oldies I took some pics of:
How about I try something more appropiate? '36 5 wondow coupe. Chopped . OHV inline 6 out of a 57 Chev kit. 6 sidedraft carbs on a scratched manifold Airbrushed grafix.
yeah I'm tempted to not paint them, and just leave the multiple coats of sanded paint jobs as a testimant to how long ago they were originally built. i have acquired quite a few old customs over the past few years. Some were my fathers handed down to me, some were yard sale/swap meet finds. I've just gotten back into the hobby, so I've been unearthing everything lately to get organized. I'll be putting up posts as each one starts to progress.
...that said, does anyone know any good sites where i can get old school style accessories, resin or otherwise? or do i just have to kit bash?? thanks -C
geezerman, very nice did the motor come out of the amts 57 chevy because my son never saw one in there and he has about 3. I realy like it my son built a manifold with the sidedraft blower setup from amts 57 chevy. He needs to get it done.
Here is what I picked up today at the Swap meet that NitroMarty was talking about. These are some old build ups I found, so they are traditional. ha ha ha hehehehe I did get some other great stuff for later projects too. Lets say straight axle gasser chassis are getting plentiful for me now.
A little update on a 1/8 32 I'm building. I made some headers for the flatty out of the kit supplied headers for a Pontiac engine. Mods include: channeled, pinched nose, the frame from the firewall forward sweeps upward (pie-cut at the firewall) bobbbed rear rails, sprint car style steering... My camera died so all I have is a camera phone. That's why the pics aren't so good.
Ive been out of models for a while but looking to build again. where are you guys picking up the decals now for vintage drag cars. Gassers and altered primarily...
