Here's one of my favorites. Not quite "in motion" but I think it's worthy. I wish I had a pic of this beast launching.

Some more from Goodguys Indy in the mid 90's plus one from the US Nats in 05. Not totally HAMB oriented but from one of my last trackside shooting efforts.

Sheesh is that sucker high! Ya wonder what they were thinking back then!

  15. You wouldn't believe how many times I pushed this car back to the starting line after the burnouts....lol Bernie had a cool car but Goodguys said he slowed up the show by not having a reverser; "Don't bring it back until it has one" we never went back.

There was barely a mention of it in the book I scanned it from (NASCAR something) but as you can see he went with a vinyl roof - hoped it might give him an aerodynamic edge but it started lifting.

I assume he's 'adjusting' the windshield moldings (or something).

  18. I didn't think Goodguys were that brain dead. That car rules!

  19. I think pushing it back adds to the "cool" of it all. I would've said I'm afraid if I had a reverser, I'd be tempted into backing into one of you jackasses

I think that's what the problem was.. to many crew guys got run over ,or passed out from exhaustion..

Saw a front engine car fold up like a cheap chair once at Bowling Green..was backing it up when it slipped into forward. He drove it right ino the wall..
In slow motion, it just folded up..messed it up pretty bad.

  23. I'm pretty sure that's Paul kneeling, by the size of his shoe, Bernie had long ass hair back then too. I'm pretty sure that gray trailer is Paul's old trailer before the Mr. Ed.
If anyone has a video called "Time Diggers" they do an interview with Bernie and this car at Indy as a "Low Buck" approach.
