But we had a helluva good time, anyway. Thanks 'Blasted' for the Triple 'A' recommendation, been paying those folks for years.

Looks like you need a dentist. Doctors can't fix teeth!

One of those teeth looks like it has been broken for a while, trans a bit noisy before hand?

  5. Had a 340 HP 327 '62 Vette with factory 3 speed back in the 60's. Killed a lot of those transmissions. Eventually put in a Muncie 4- speed and solved the problem. Once I blew 2nd and 3rd street racing out in the country 20 miles away. Drove home in first with a lot of pee stops. The whole deal was an ARI of great magnitude. We were lucky a lot in those days.

Thanks Rick, I was always afraid something would happen. At least I did it close to home (60 miles away) and Triple A got me home. Guess I just gotta figure out if I wanna drive it or race it.

Think a T-10 would be a good replacement? Found one with a front bearing making a little noise and needs replaceing.

  13. T-10's served us well with fairly strong engines back in the day. Remember, they came behind some pretty big power engines...375 hp fuelies, 425 hp 409's, 390/406 FE's, 383 mopars, 389 Pontiacs, etc.

I've got a cluster here with 2nd gear looking like that. Maybe we could combine the 2 and make 1 good one!

Kajun John down in Whitney can fix you up and is the best in my opinion on standard ******s. I would say get rid of the saginaw and step up to a Muncie or better T-10 aluminum case. Or since you like driving them too possibly a 5 speed. that Saginaw you have came out of a vega. Some last forever some break. There is really know way to know how good or bad it is when we buy these used parts. You can really only go by the guy you got it from and hope and pray he is honest. But with all that said I think a trip to Mokan, Smokey burnouts there, Alot of miles around her, a trip to Day of the drags, and now a few more p***es finally got that one. Denton is and was real tacky dragstrip well maintained. Tracks like that will show weaks points really really fast..

Well, lesson learned. Uncle Daniel has tried to teach me, "You shouldn't race your driver', if ya wanna race, build a race car". Specially if it has a Saginaw. I was told they will work fine, if you don't abuse them.
Found another silly-sag (Muncie & posi is on the Christmas list) 4-speed. Installed it Saturday morning, and works incredibly smooth. A little linkage fine-tuning, and I'll be back in the bleach box, in no time. OOPS - did I say that? No, I will look for an alternative way to enjoy that 'rush' of 1/4 mile action.
Thanks to the folks with advice, and to (mynameisnot) 'Pete' for beatin' the bushes for me.

glad ya got it fixed, had a blast with you guy`s .

after doing that to a monza 5 speed and spreading oil down the track? "they yell at ya when you do that"
I bought a new tremec 6 speed dam there nice !
and went with a lower rear end gear .
sure is nice cruzin in 6th to the track , and having a 3.80 gear to race. they should be all over the junk yards now? and there good for 600 hp ! and they power shift kinda nice :)....
