WTF have these pictures got to do with traditional hot rodding.

They would be more at home on a soft porn site. Have a look at pictures taken back in the day. The girls in them were the sisters and girlfriends of the guys and are part of the picture whereas these overexposed tatooed tarts try to become the picture.

With all the thousands of great photos available do we really need a tacky photo thread?

  3. im sorry you feel that way, there will always be someone with opposite opinions then you have.

as far as im concerned hot rods and kustoms make up the kustom culture scene, im sure people will think otherwise. But when you go to some hot rod event, you will always see at least one person who has slicked hair, tattoos, blue jeans and a chain. You will always see one girl who dress's retro whether she is 50 or 20 yrs old. So they are just as much apart of the scene as you and me.

Its about the hot rods in kustoms, if people dont want photos of girls and hot rods together then why not just arty shots of hot rods & customs. Could make great wall papers or whatever.

My point is that these people aren't dressing retro. Sure they are part of the scene BUT not the traditional scene. They are a invention of the last decade. The Kustom Kulture in what admittedly is only a opinion doesn't belong here. There are plenty of crap magazines to see that stuff in. Likewise the Tiki thing is hard to do with taste. From memory one who does pull it off well in his home is Royalshifter but he does everything with class. Most of the Tiki Bars etc look cheap and tacky and belong to people working real hard at being cool when cool is something you either have or don't, and normally they are in the don't catagory. It can be done really well but only by a few really talented people.

If you want to see really great photos check out the work of Peter Vincent. He really gets it.

The photos in the 2nd set are great and are about the cars.

    Mate......YOU'RE A WANKER !!!!!!!

but I'd like to be constructive, so - read the details about the guidelines of this site.

It basically says this is about COOL OLD CARS and you can stick the rest of that crap up your clacker! And this is even MORE TRUE in Australia than America, so spend more time reading the Trading Post and less time reading OlskoolTurds, just coz its the ONLY magazine at your newsagents.

    Pfffttt.....wanker

Kulture may be gay but I think girls add something to almost any pic. No matter what they are wearing.

  10. That shit's for flickr, dude.

  11. well ur right dude i probably am a wanker,

although there have been topics on here completely non related to old hot rods
    eg, lowriders cars

some people on here like them, and im one of them. But they arnt old hot rods so why dont you go call them wankers, instead of callin me one for posting pics with something + a old hot rod/custom in them

im just a 16yr old trying to be involved in the scene, im bound to make mistakes man. Theres no need to make someone feel unwelcome

Ok so now you are learning, this is a traditional forum we like to see the history and stories of hot rods and customs from the dawn of the automobile to the sixties maybe some of the racecars from the early seventies but nothing newer, the rockabilly stuff is not what we are about and if you look at the "real" photo's of hot rod models back in the day you will see that they had class and didn't look like the white trash spider web tattoo types that people use today. Show some of the old pictures and people will flock to this thread in droves.

Its not a SCENE!!!! Its not a FAD!!!! and its about the Cars not the "CULTURE"!!!!
We are not trying to make you feel unwelcome but this site is about the cars, not the SCENE! WE ARE CAR PEOPLE......Not part of the FAD!!!! I owned a traditional Kustom when it was not cool to own one, and still do!! but now its cool all of a sudden!!! Just enjoy the cars not the scene and you will be fine.

    WOW !!!

You Guys are coming dow HARD on this guy when all he wanted to do wa show off his New Found hobby... Which seems to me is an Extension of his passion for cars.

I have had a 2 month suspension from this site for "Talking Shit" as most of you know, So all i could do was Lurke & see whats Cool in the H.A.M.B. World.

I have seen some of the most Bullshit Non~Car related crap get alot of hits & several pages of comments, I have seen Cars that SCREAM Kulture Scene that many of you tell the guy How Bitchen it is.

Guys post O/T in front of all kinds of crap and it goes on for weeks or days... Bummer yer Dog passed.... But this aint the Humane Scociety blog center.

Or how about the " Ipod in yer Hot Rod" post, Or maybe the post that ran up over 50 pages about the "Douche of Spades"... How Kulture is that ??

A Chick, Buys a FIBERGLASS '32 with a Chevy motor and all the sudden she is an instant Hot Rodder making a movie that starts off right after WWll.... And every one slaps her ass for this ??

NOW THATS KULTURE... Not Hot Rodding in the least.

Any one ever see her pull into a show ? Full WWll flight gear when pulls in, Jumps out and peel the gear off in front of every one down to her Pin Up Girl outfit she has on under it... VERY TRADITIONAL !

Give this poor guy a break, Its only something he wanted to share.

Bust Balls on the next Guy who post up "THE BUILD" of the next Super Cool "RUDY" Truck.... Now Thats KULTURE !!!

I think the whole Kulture Shit Pile sucks as much as most of you guys here, But it is Strong even here on the H.A.M.B... As you can see by alot of the cars posted here & the people... Go look at the "Wives & Girlfriends Thread.. you will see

Ya know, its funny. I almost always agree with DE SOTO, and this is no exception.

Nads, now that is some funny shit.

  20. I have a tendency to cut a 16 year old some slack. He hasn't had much time to figure anything out yet. Actually I think he has a future in photography and some of those shots are pretty good, regardless of the subjects. He hasn't posted antthing that others haven't posted before. We have had our share of hairy armpits showing tattoos. I don't think anyone has a right to tell him what to shoot and as time goes on he will realize that what others think means nothing, but he has to realize not everyone will accept his views. Good Luck, kid.

K first off, kulture is gay.

Second, IMO girls dont add to any car pic, in most cases detract. Look, if I wanna look at girls Ill get a girlie mag. Im a pretty monomagous type of guy, as far as I see it leave that for the lowrider and minitruck crowd, Id rather look at my girlfriend.

Third, and most importantly, you may have the HAMB wrong, but if that last post of yours was your work with a shitty point and click, you have some talent. Not only in composition of the pics, but in the editing....it was tasteful. Sometimes I think its best when folks DONT have photoshop...cuz they tend to get filter crazy and make every pic a stupid "pastel sketch" or some nonsense.

I use an Evolt 500 from Olympus. Its an 8.0mp and that is definately more than ya need for what you are doing. I only have 2 lenses, a 14-45 and a 40-150 and a cheap wide angle lens. Couldnt be happier with it and Id bet you could snag one on ebay in the area of $500 or so, maybe a bit more.

All in all tho, good luck and kickass. It would be a shame to see a future photographer in a big car mag scared off the art from a hot rod forum at 16.

    I missed you De Soto.

I like the pics. Since when is a pinup not traditional?
And I don't care what you want to call it or not call it, culture, scene, lifestyle, whatever - get the fuck over yourself, what the hell else would you call living and breathing EVERYTHING about old cars?

WTF? if this board was nothing but traditional posts it would be a ghost town.

you guys bashing this person must just be too cool. dude wants to take some pictures and show other pictures from people he likes and you shit on him. this place is way more than just strictly traditional rides.

photography and art are a part of the HAMB. friday art show... the HAMB calander, people posting car show pics... there was even a wednesday photo show for a while

so get of your kulture sucks traditional only high horse and lighten up.

Eh...I totally see your point but I think you missed the mark a bit.

Pin ups? Sure...lets take Bettie Page, prolly the most famous of them all. Was she strictly posing over satin black rods with a full sleeve tattoo and some cheap domestic can of beer in her hand? No man, not even close, thats this late 90s and up white trash meets Hot Topic goth raver with a SMALL amount of hot rods in it. It isnt living/sleeping/breathing old cars. It doesnt even revolve around them as much as the music. Shit, not a minute goes by Im not looking at, thinking of or dreaming about Mercs...but wierdo chain wallet commando I most certainly am not.

I remember being at Road Agents years ago leaving to head back to NJ and I was in the elevator w/ a bunch of "greasers" from Canada or something. I had long hair (chin length or longer) with blonde highlites, some wierd Abercrombie jeans etc, obviously not scene. One of the dudes looked at me like I was from Mars, and all I noticed was the chopped Merc on his forearm (amognst tons of other tats). Well, we got into the parking lot, they piled into some small Jap sub-compact and I got into the car on his arm, my daily 50 2 dr. The "scene" guy had that Ol Skool Rodz look down, but he left with the tat, I drove off in the real thing. Nothing against the dude, but it made me laugh.
