Thanks bonesy! That has been my goal since the beginning....and I consider that to be just about the best compliment you can get with a custom car.

Man.. you've got impeccable taste. That car is so perfect. Had it been built "back in the day", all the custom shops would have been looking to YOU for inspiration. Great job.

B***, did this car use the scrungy, twisted, Merc surround from Iowa? I cut that surround from an upside-down creekside car.

Perfect example of "what comes around, goes around".

I'm glad I got to see it at the GNRS, killer car.

Alchemy...I'm pretty sure that's the one that I cut up to make the lower corners of the opening from. It was a little too far gone to use the whole surround, which was OK because I don't have any remorse about cutting it up. :)

After the car is finished, I'm going to have to put together an owner's manual/ catalog of all the parts from different cars that I have used. Should be interesting.

  13. Such an awesome car. Can you send everyone an email when it's finished so we don't miss it. ;)

Looking at this thread I realized that this is the same ride we picked for our "Club Pick"trophy at GRNS. Quality metal work throughout. Keep up the high quality work.

Holy ****! That is the best looking Chevy I have ever seen!!!! That Merc front end is freaking amazing! I would have never thought of that. Very impressive and even more inspiring. I have seen the car before, can't remember where though? You are a true craftsman! Very nice!!!

Any hint on a possible color?

  20. Nice job so far Mr B***. Question on your leading? Are using old rod that has more lead than nickle or the newer stuff like was eastwood is selling now.

That thing's insane; definitely makes me think twice before posting any of my work on here.

I don't really have anything new to report. The car is currently safe at home with its owner getting some more work done on the airbags. Hopefully it will be back in the shop sometime in the near future to get the remaining metalwork and detail stuff finished...I'll give you guys an update if/when that happens.

Thanks again to all of you for the positive feedback. Right now I'm pretty deep into a Model A Coupe project that I'll be sharing with you guys soon.

  27. Tough to change the front end on these and not make a mess, this one flows real nice and looks good.

I kinda think that Kaiser guard would look better if the trunk-facing side of the top was V'ed to match the face of it. Probably long since past that point given the thread's a year old though. It messes with the flow but I can't decide if it's just because that point doesn't match up, or the top just looks heavy on there.

Man that is one totally awsome job, my hat is off to you and thanks for the articles as you went along.

Are you able to tell us how many hours went into that and please keep us posted when the colour goes down, metalic sounds the way to go over pearl only because the pearls in some lights seem to look dirty where the metalic always has that glint to it.

    Congrats on a beautifull job.

    Cheers and Beers man
