Quick note-Pop's birthday was AWESOME!!!! The 65-cards goal was blown out. The kids in my wife's cl***es made 40-some today, and there was a big stack in the mail today as well. Thanks to all!!!! I will post some pic's and a count in the next few days.

Sounds like he needs a ride in a hot rod A. Maybe take him to the thaw and someone could give him a ride...maybe down the track...:)

I'd love to do that, but Pop is very limited on getting out and about and couldn't make the trip to Denton.

Just now read the post. Too late for a card, but maybe you can p*** this post on to him. I'm not far behind you. Glad to hear that you are still into cars, gkot to do something to keep the ole brain cells working. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRANK!!! If we knew that we were going to live this long we probaboy would have taken better care of ourselves. Saw this on another thread a while back and liked it. "The objective of lifes journey is not to arrive at the grave in a perfectly preserved and maintained body, but to come in tires smoking, pipes bellowing, completely worn out and shouting Damn What a Ride!"

Got an update from Mom. She sent me this note in an email and asked that I post it online.

    Dear Comp***ionate Ones,
It is with great gra***ude we send this message acknowledging your loving kindnesses for the myriad of birthday cards, car photos, magazines, t-shirts, and personal notes sent to my dear Frank. To witness his curiosity and interest in the cards, packages' contents, and even the addresses challenged him to communicate and led to his talking about the Model A he once had plus other cars he had in the past. Within the cards there were so many cleverly written notes that some of you wrote personally. He read them! We are both in awe at the response of cards! It was a surprise for him and I was just hoping there would be at least 65 cards. Well! That's been surp***ed three times and still counting! More arrived even today, February 15th! At present, well over 200 cards have been received from so many of you, plus relatives, friends, neighbors, church members, former co-workers, high school cl***mates, college cl***mates and fraternity brothers (PKA), our daughter-in--law's seventh grade cl***es, and even a former high school teacher.
Thank you sooooo much for your role in this "shower" that immersed both of us in such an out-pouring of love. The days have been joyous and each one is a gift from God.
    Blesssings to each of you,
Priscilla Bowers and my "Miracle Man" Frank.....Big THANKS for our loving son racer32.

    Very Cool, indeed.
It's amazing how a simple act of kindness can do so much good.
Your a good kid. Sounds like you've got quite a Dad, too.
    Smiles from SoCal...:D

Wish I had seen this when it was first posted. I'm not far behind your dad at 63. I'm also fortunate to have arrived at this age because of an accident that happened in 1988. 3 1/2 years hospitalized and rehab for 1 1/2 years have allowed me the luxury of still being here.
Tell your dad Happy Birthday for me. Also how about printing out this thread for him to read? He might enjoy reading it.
Your parents did a good job of raising you, it shows in your concern for his happiness.

i just had a chance to read the post and let me say....HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!!!!!! your card is in the mail tomorrow!!!!

  14. I sent him a package today with a Magazine, some pictures of some of my cars and others and a modified card. Hope the card works!!! I figured better late than never and a couple days later he may be surprized that hes still getting cards and gifts. Its going to take 6 days to get from WA state to where he is. I had the package ready a couple days ago but just made it to the post office today.

  15. I dont know why but I turn to mush when I read this. I just read it to my Wife Priscilla with teary eyes. Hope Frank has many more memorable birthdays !!!

Thanks TRW! I know Mom and Pop will appreciate it even if the cards are coming in after Pop's B-day. Wouldn't it be cool if instead of the 65 cards Mom hoped for the total ended up being 650??

Update from Mom-the count is 235 cards as of Tuesday. Even though Pop's birthday was a week ago, they are still filtering in. Long-distance award goes to HemiDave, who sent a card all the way from Kamumoto, Japan. I've got some pic's downloaded from Mom's camera, and will post them later this evening. Thanks to all!

Yes, I talked to Mom this morning and she said it did...but you already know that. (Whippet's card was a hand-made musical card-very impressive according to Mom)

  27. Hey Racer, I had a good long talk with your Mom, what a family!! It made me feel good about sending your Dad the Book and cards but to get an unexpected call was the icing on the cake. The card wasnt that impressive but I didnt want it to get opened and have a bunch of **** fall out and do nothing.. LOL!! Your Mom also said you have a Firebird? What year? Anyway tell your Mom hi and this is what really makes these forums worthwhile, getting to know new people!! One time I invited a guy from Sweden to swing by while he was p***ing through. It turned out , his girlfriend and cousin were also with him. When I told my wife, she sort of freaked and sayed "You dont even know these people!!!!!". LOL. Anyway, they swung on by and ended up staying a week with me and we all had a blast. We are still good friends and email regularly. So maybe someday we may meet!!! Remind us of your dads 66th Birthday and we'll all have to get some Route 66 memorabilia sent to him. Glad to have been a part of Franks birthday. Say hi to Priscilla!! Thats actually my wifes name also.
