Shocking, far too young. I'm lucky enough to say I worked under him briefly. RIP Boyd.

He was responsible for one of my favorite customs of all time.

took my teenage son, and 5-6 of his buddies to the old shop in stanton in april 1995, mrs. boyd #1 allowed us to walk around the shop (it was the end of the day, not much work goiing on) boyd was not there, but gray baskerville was, doing a photo shoot for R&C, he couldn't have been greater to me and the kids, so was mrs.boyd, fast forward to goodguys hershey a couple years ago, i run into him and thank him for his staff being so open for the boys back in 1995, and show him pics of the day, he extends an invite to come back anytime, was very gracious, his recent cars were not my cup of tea, but you can't fault the innovative stuff over the years - condolences to all in his, and his extended family

You couldn't help but appreciate Boyd for his talent and craftsmanship. Besides--he built the kind of cars that he liked--isn't that what hot rodding is really all about?

His passing at such a relatively young age and so unexpectedly should make us all think a little about our own mortality.

Rest in peace, Boyd, and my prayers are with the family...

His work is not my to my taste, but wether you like his work or not...you have to respect the work that he done, and the exposure he brought to our hobby.

    RIP Boyd

I was only wondering because whenever we have a local rodder pass, everybody comes in their rods and follows the body to the grave. Then we all park around the cemetery as a sort of send off for one of our own, you know what I mean? Seems like it would be a way to honor him if a ton of rods showed up. Even if they kept their distance. Perhaps just a gathering at the gates or somthing....
