Does anyone have any pictures of Eddie Potter's "Sudden Death" fuel coupe? How about Bob Bunker's "Folsom Flash" '55? ESPECIALLY back when it was a mid-8 second FOUR SPEED! - Thanks in advance!

  13. I remember seeing it run in this configuration at Sacramento and Fremont in the 80's. Incedentally, Love Chevrolet was in Folsom, and I believe Bob worked there. My dad bought his '88 Chevy pu there... and yes, it's the Folsom CA in the Johnny Cash song, where the prison is.

Bob Bunker used to race with Dave Riolo's "Temptation" '55 Chevy... and Wayne Torkleson's T-bird... they were the first of the blown door slammers and the beginning of the pro-mod movement.

Incidentally... my '55 Chevy used to race alongside those guys when they were racing back in the early 70's, maybe even late 60's.

    Sam.

Bob bunker works part time at Rex Hutchison Racing Engines in Sacramento, and he just buttoned up my Donovan to fire. They were telling me when I picked it up that in the late '70s and early '80s Bunker was running a blown 468 with a HEMI 4-SPEED. MID-EIGHTS. Wheels up, frame twisting runs everytime!

I had a Popular Hot Rodding I think from '81 with the car in it. Gasser style, no gravel pan or front bumper with GIANT funny car slicks stickin' out of the wheelwells. BAD BAD BAD. I drew a picture of the car when I was 17 and took it all over town, trying to get local guys to pay me to draw their cars by showing them "Bunker's Beast."

He just built the engine in my rail 26 years later. CRAZY. He still has the car and his son drives it. The guys at Rex tell me it's immaculate, with beautiful paint and a PSI blown killer big block and a Lenco. They're shooting for 5.80s...JESUS.
