What's the forward velocity of an unladen swallow? ...or has that been asked? This post is so old, I've forgotten!
Name a GM p***enger automobile, manufactured in the 1910's for sale in the U.S. market, which used a ladder bar - located rear axle.
Good question... but since Squirrels are afraid of "Tomcats" I'll throw out some probables...! The answer to that equation depends upon a couple of variables... such as atmospheric pressure (You can boil water at a lower temp in a pure vacuum!), speed of movement, size of the bucket, and ambient temperature!
If you were going to convert your SB Chevrolet V8 to a reverse-rotator(to beat centrifugal force on the race track)would you change the location of the starter or the direction/gear and its spin when turning the flywheel to start? (I always wondered how Smokey Yunick supposedly did it with the Hudsons?)
I need to read this entire thread, I'm sure it will be a hoot. I have never seen Squirrel stumped. I don't even post questions on the board anymore, I just PM Squirrel. Question: 2 wrongs don't make a right, but 3 rights makes a ......?
In boats I have seen it done by relocating the starter to to bell-housing, usually on the top (it's facing the other way). I un-reversed the rotation of a boat motor to put in my '30 chevy coupe. My buddy runs this type of bell-housing on a regular-rotation bbc - he reversed the starter! To answer your question accurately, it can be done either way.

I,d guess fuel vapors entering the dist through a ruptered dist vacuum advance as a result of a flooding carb condition at shut down.
