What year are those photos? In the many pics I've seen the car has many different items. Here in this one, gone in the next, changed, added, etc. I think Mark and Vic are going for the debut look like it was in 1958.
The middle pic is from 1958. The same mesh pattern seems to be used on the back end also behind the lights.
Good comparison! If we can find a smaller closer pattern, we'll eventually change it...we do want it as close as possible to the real one! No offense taken...I wish we'd known sooner! Having custom punched metal sheets cost over 1000 for a 4 x 8 sheet. I hope it's a standard pattern!
Mark @ Vic Looks Great , Amazing, I Love It. Yes, Barris Can Be Testy When It Comes To Use Of The Barris Name. Remember The Model And The T-shirts? Barresse'
MARK If you broke your windshield? at this point, remember Charlie at Classic Glass in Torrington Conn. Man he can do it and quick. He did the Aztec shield and also Terry Cooks "Scrape" right now...............hes the man when it comes to cutting shields. BARRESSE'
mark and barry, you guys know you have to get your vehicles together for photos at some point, right?
AHHHHHHHHHHHH! We were hoping for a reunion in Detroit, for the debut of the Kart, but alas, it was not meant to be. Barry, we were able to cut the rear on the first shot, and Vic had the first windshield they sent us, that had the tint on the top. That one we were a little more careful with, adn it came out fine. We will eventually replace it with a full clear one, after Detroit. Vic's going to send you some hi-res shots, maybe tonight....be prepared, it looks AWESOME! (And I don't use that overused word too often!)
i just realised something. I have a rodding and restyling mag from august 61 with the kart in it. I saw that you might not be able to put barris on the doors. Well in the mag i think its after it changed hand and had a v8 in it it had the trim on the doors but no barris customs. Just thought id let you know.
MARK, you and Vic are just blowing me away with your dedication and work aggression. I never really thought you would have it ready, your the best!!! This photo was taken when Barris, Bill Carr and Dean Jefferies went East to car shows. They had to drive cause no one used trailers back then. Bill made 5 trips across with the Aztec. Now I'am a garage fairy, hey we got to go across someday, can't wait for pics. LATER...BARRESSE'
It should be on its way right now to Alan Johnson's to get striped. I left there yesterday and all the little doo dads were mostly taken care of and it really looked like the real thing!
As long as the poeple cuttin them get their act together. Mark was on the phone with them for a while yesterday. The art got screwed up and when it got to the cutters, they had the Barris name 36 inches wide! It will be on there somehow, I contacted someone I know at OCC as a backup, and Vic is coming up with a vinyl mixed with lexan alternative as well.
Hey, Wow don't even begin to cover it! So Mark, does your signature now read "Formerly hammerin' on "The Kart"? Michigan in March, hum! Does it ever get above 32 degrees before June? Swankey Devils C.C. "Meanwhile, back aboard The Tainted Pork"
I was at Alan Johnson's today, and the truck looks great! Good job guys! Wait till you all see it in Detroit!
Thanks from all of us Kurt. Nice meeting you again. We couldn't miss you when you passed us in the Edsel-ero on our way to Alan's. I told Vic that I recognized the car from Carlisle and he said it was you and you were probably on your way to Alan's. Sure enough, you were parked in our spot when we got there. Daran
