Im never going to finish my t now, but i couldnt let it slip buy , I scooped this titled ,running 38 plmouth with the money i had to finish my t , I think i have to stop buying cars . what to do with it ???
Thats funny ! cant finish the one i have money wise , I should have said how do i get the money ? I no what to do ,Im a small junky with buying cars and bikes
Drive the piss outta it...NAPA carries most of the parts you'll need, otherwise Roberts Motor Parts online has the rest...I have a pair of brand new brake shoes if ya need em...
Was the price good enough that you can make a profit by turning it? If so, turn it and now you have more money to work with for the T
cool , I dont even no where to begain, im just going to stick it aside for now or finish my t or put the t on the side burner for now or sell the plmouth . I have to give it a good looking over and think about what to do . Its not bad but i wont really no till i go throw it . The worst part is i had an all restored rolling chassie for it two mouths ago and sold it . I had it sitting around for ever i couldnt give it away, sold it for 700 hundred. I got this car so cheap its crazy. Plus the extra parts that come with it the shed is full to the doors with stuff
Is that the factory roof line? It looks chopped in the picture. (To me anyway) That thing is baaaad! I lie the idea of a rake with black paint and drive it. Sweet ride! SHould keep you tide over while you finish the T.
Ive had a few of theses over the years but never a keeper or driver . The last one , a tree had fell on the roof i tryed fixing it but i parted it out .
MoPar guys fit them with overdrive making them real road cars. They aren't much good over 50 MPH stock. Chrysler used a floor shift OD trans in '38 only, so a later column shift OD trans is a major project - usually OD units are adapted to your trans.
You can adapt a T-5 to the original bell housing as Don Coatney who sometimes posts here on the H.A.M.B. He used to have the whole process outlined here with pictures but has since removed it. He also posts at P15-D24.com so you might try him for his information. I installed a Dakota 3.55 rear in my 48 flathead I/6 powered Plymouth and drove it to hot August Nights and Bonneville last summer from central Texas, 4600 miles. Drove the interstate coming home, 70 mph through Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico and I 10 from El Paso home at 75 mph so they can be used as a daily driver. Just split the manifold, add dual carbs a mild cam and mill the head, makes a good driver, lots of torque.
well i got the car and started really looking at the thing and its going to be parted out just to much work to get it useable and safe . I took out the front seat , no floors its bad no trunk . easyer to fix my t and i dont wanna start messing with somthing else so its comming apart anyone want 38 plmouth stuff ill be starting an add in a few hours
I'm with the crowd on this one...get her running and driving and then drive the wheels off of it. Keep it cheap!
Is that a four door? I have a 38 four door that's almost all original. I added a split exhaust manifold, dual exhaust and an aluminum head. I'm in the process of lowering it a bit and might add new wheels with radial tires. It's definately not fast but it is fun to drive.
I'd fix enough to drive and be safe, then i'd drive hell out of it while I worked on the t. Thanks, BOBBY FORD
Thing is the t is done i just have to paint it ,this thing needs a lot of metal work , its bad i didnt relize how bad till i got the seats out and trunk open and looked under it i should have got some pics, it looks good in the photos but its two steps from falling of the fram . ill sell it for 1500 if anyone wants it but its worth more in parts. would be a good start for somone whos in to these cars but massachusetts is bad on the old plmouths i have found three and this one is the best .
