you are right. I admire the Steve Sanford Rendering ,it's so 1980's . But I use mercmad to draw my ideas out on pieces of paper with ball point pens or I just use ideas I find on cars built before 1960 and cars that fit that theme. I think this would be right at home somewhere else, somewhere like this; http://www.boydcoddington.com/Store/Default.aspx
I'm curious if you would say the same thing to the guy that runs this forum. After all, his car has sbc, MII w/airbags, and god forbid disc brakes. It's one thing to say you don't think the car is traditional, but to call a guy a name and tell him to leave because of a few parts on his car is just stupid. You act as if you were bullied by a guy in a "streetrod" . By the way, I think the car is gonna be cool and look forward to its progress. slim
I just got the wheels on monday and should have the caps next week. i will show you how i will do the caps when i get them. but how i will do it is cut out the centers of one and weld them to the inside of the olds caps The taillights are from a 47 olds 98
This should be nice. Consider a straight spreader bar. I like what you have so far. And welcome to the Rocketeers...
Your combined bitterness is ruining my cup of coffee, needs another spoonful of sugar. "it's so 1980's"(?!) Dang man, I bet YOU feel better now.
LOL! Well put! I'm not sure which one is Barney but they are definately the "Trad Police" Keep the updates coming OC, looks like its gonna be sweet.
I hope the car is getting a set of radials, that would fit the chassis well. I love the drawing and it's a great color too.
After reading the comments from the "Traditional Police" I felt compelled to comment... You've got the makings of a great looking hot rod (and I kinda dig the tank in front as well but hey, it's not my ride). I look forward to seeing the progress. If folks really want to get hung up on traditional or not and a car's worthiness for being shown on this site, they should probably take a good hard look at a very large percentage of the rides shown on this site...including some of the killer rides built by some of the best craftsmen on this site! Sure, the HAMB is geared toward the traditional hot rod enthusiast but in the end, all of our cars are just personal interpretations of tried and true hot rod cliche's. Some look like they've rolled right out of a time warp from 1948, others look like they picked up other influences along the way. Either way, it's all good and all fun...lighten up and spare the name calling!
i went with this front end because i got it supper cheep $1200.00 complete hub to hub in chrome. as i would love to go with the drilled wishbones I'm still on a budget and will need to make changes as my pocket book will allow. i may change back to the drilled axle and wishbones if i can find them for a good price. thanks for the input. ocfab
Getting anything done at all is far better then those that just sit behind their keyboard all day and******. Good for you for balancing out the honey-doos and car stuff. Keep us updated on the progress
I don't know you friend, but you're sure full of opinions (or something). I've read three threads JUST TODAY that you have flamed with your "gold chain"*****. It's really old now. Start a new site just for people who don't touch anything newer than 1947, or is it 1950?, or 1957? It looks to me like this guy knows what the***** he's doing and we will learn something from him. And let's see all your "pure traditional" cars so we can praise them.
This HAGEN Guy is so trad he is Rude about it. His favorite cut is 1-800 hot rod. WOOOOOOO - you ordered parts from a supplier. Check out HAGEN JR pimping disc brakes and speedway brake kits http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=248121&showall=1 I wonder how these guys stand next to each other. my 2 cents.
I PM'ed OCfab to apologize for killing his thread (I thought), so let's keep it open so we can see where he goes with this car. I'll agree that sometimes the cars or builds on here get into the street rod style and Ryan has a stated purpose of the Journal and the HAMB. It's why I'm on here too. But it seems to me the way to keep it pure is to just not respond to those posts if you don't like them - not go off on them like a "hall monitor". Good luck OC, I'm done.
And let's see all your "pure traditional" cars so we can praise them.[/QUOTE] HA HA HA HAH Yea......post away I wanna see that too ocfab...... keep going sir..... looking good!
Being an Olds fan I'm really loving this project. The wide whites and Olds caps will look perfect. The 5 speed just makes good common sense for a car that's going to be driven. I think this is going to be a very traditional looking full fendered roadster. Please keep the updates coming. I wanna see it.
Looks like a cool build. There is a shop in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area that should make that adapter you need. I just can't think of their name off the top of my head. I'll try the MSRA website and see what I can dig up. Maybe some Minnesota HAMBers could help out.
i picked up a trans adapter from Ross so the motor mach up should start within the next two weeks. i just picked up a Mill so i will spend this weekend getting it up and running
ocfab, you are building a very cool roadster just the way you like it. Don't change a thing because its YOUR car. I'm going to sit back and watch it come together, keep posting your progress. What really impressed me the most is the most recent post's from fellow HAMBER's supporting your efforts and dissing the negative comments from the self appointed traditional police rent-a cops. You guys are a CLASS act!
Well it rolls now thanks to the Coker HAMB discount. Next step is to dissemble and clean the old rocket and start the mock up
