  5. porsche930dude,

Gotta disagree on the BATs- they're different, I'll give you that, but not ugly.

  6. Those are Alfa BATs. The design may be too much for some but the execution is superb. These are magnificent cars. I was a Pebble Beach the very day this picture was taken and I was able to examine them very closely.

Beat me to it, no way they belong here. Besides, these are not customs but factory design studies along the lines of the Buick Y-job.

The Ms Pacman car and the "Burning man golf cart" on the other hand...

  9. gotta agree onn the pac-man car, even thou I dig show rods.but K.C.Winkler rocked the house in the 70s & 80s.wonder where she is now???...........and the bat cars, looks like something Winfield woulda done in the early 60s about the time of the reactor(man from u.n.c.l.e. car) that Russ Meeks did so much work on

This thread is supposed to be about ugly CUSTOMS that went wrong somewhere.
It's NOT supposed t be about any pile of "stuff" that happens to have some wheels under it.

It's NOT about ugly recyced golf carts at Burning Man.
It's NOT about over the top even for their time factory concept prototype cars like the BATT series
It's NOT about ugly "theme show cars" like Pac Man.
It's NOT about ugly "street rods" or "street machines"

Don't you guys even know what a CUSTOM is?

Why don't you post the Queens gilt Coronation coach while you're at it?

    OK, I'll tell you.
A CUSTOM is a car that started out as a stock mass production car and the body was then modified to look different from what it started out.

Examples: a '46 Ford with the deck shaved and a '46 Olds grill molded in.
Or a '55 Chevy with '61 Chrysler headlights and '59 Buick or '57 Chrysler 1/4 panels and fins grafted on.

NOT an example: A '55 Chevy with a hole cut in the hood for a high rise manifold air scoop the bumper and gravel shield removed to make it lighter and a straight axle installed that just puts all the weight back on because it makes it look like a "gasser" and handle like shit on the street because of the high c/g.
Also not an example: Anything usually referred to as an "Art Car"

I agree. The chop is all wrong on that car. They must have done it in a small one car garage and never got a good look at it until it was done.

  27. It takes my breath away. I'd like to see the steering and controls for this. What do you suppose he uses all of that extra underhood room for?

That's the one! I didn't remember the forklift part. It was the blowers and chrome top that stuck in my mind.
