Mopar Guys?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by MaxWedge_maniac, Mar 19, 2006.

  1. I'm lovin' the old lady's 63 dart. Gotta find some headlight rings for it, though.

The old slant six...can't kill it. Believe me, she's tried.

  2. Here's mine;

Glad to see this thread still making its way around. I've added another Mopar to my corral (albeit non-HAMB material). I picked up a 74 Dart swinger for my son, with only 36,000 miles on it. It's cosmetically rough, but mechanically sound. Hoping for a paint job on it yet this spring.

Depends on what vintage - have a '48 Dodge in the garage, and I had a '66 Newport that was a fun car (only car I ever had where you would have to almost floor it to get it going, then start letting up on the gas as the car sped up. Had it on the highway once, had it 1/3rd open and was pushing 100 - nice!) Lately though, my love for Chrysler has been strained (talking new cars now) Since the early 90's I have owned 3 Chrysler products, and I got my ass kicked on every one of them. Absolute worst of the pack was my minivan, which ate 7 trannies in under 40,000 miles. No one at Chrysler could ever find out why (or more accurately, no one cared why) Still have an '85 NYer tucked in the garage, as nice as it is, it NEVER ran right with the crappy lean-burn. Even when it was de-lean-burned it still never ran 100%. It's at the point now where it's a candidate for an engine swao (see my other post regarding my stupid diesel idea)

  6. Me too, Mopar or No car. 1934 Plymouth waitin on me and a '48 Plymouth Deluxe Coupe about done.

Aside from Crosley gunk I lean toward mopars. Got a '52 Dodge wagon that needs a lotta love at the moment. recently sold my '62 valiant wagon.

and, speaking of probably the most anti-hotrod tranny on earth, anybody out there have experience with the fluid drive cars?

  8. Just enough to know that I never want another one. I had a 53 Coronet with 241 and Gyro-Torque. The transmission was too slow and eccentric but it was reliable. I don't know of any ways to make them perform better. You are better off going with the later 2 speed Power-Flight at least.

I'm torn down to a bare block on my 1st Mopar... '64 318 Poly w/ .40 over bore and a 264/.450 street cam... going back together over the next 2 weekends. (short on spare time) I am lucky enough to be learning from a 40 year mopar vet... I think I'm hooked...

I've been working on my Mr. Norms 68' Charger R/T and just picked up a 37' Dodge 1/2 ton pick up. I'm a Mopar guy for sure!

  12. Maaaaaaaaan.... This thread making me crazy!

I've been nothing but a Mopar loser bum since I can remember.

Current cars in the stable, including daily drivers, are as follows:
    - 1959 Plymouth Belvedere 2dr hardtop (early 60's kustom - in progress)
    - 1970 Dodge Polara Custom coupe (daily summer driver)
    - 1991 Dodge Dakota (shop truck a.k.a. Del Scorcho)
    - 1997 Plymouth Breeze (my daily)
    - 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser 5-speed (wife's car)

It's a sickness really... I have no idea how to buy anything but a mopar... Please help me...

The 68 is in pieces getting ready for F8 green paint and a 383 from Gotgas. Thanks again Danny.

383 .030, 516 heads, KB 400 pistons, 440 six pack cam, 3.23 sure grip, 727 auto. Should run nice.

The 67 I plan on putting a 451 stroker in with a 4 speed I picked up and a 3.55 sure grip rear. May paint it petty blue with a 43 on the side.

The 66 is this summers cruiser if I don't get my truck done. It drives like a new car.

I have a 49 wayfarer, with a 360 and a 383 in the garage. Can't decide which to install, the easier one or better one.
