Anyone have build pics or finished pics? six packs? multi-carb set ups? homemade intakes? headers? LETS SEE THOSE PICS!! This is mine right now, as I got it. It'll be going into my '27 Dodge after it gets 'hotrodded' .
I have one in my 59 Plymouth. This is the third car I've had it in. It's a 1967 is all I know. Beyond that, I did a rebuild on it years ago. I only had it bored .30 over, oversized flat-top pistons, larger cam (no details here), and dual-plane aluminum intake. I can't remember the carb size cuz I bought it so long ago, but I think it's only a 650 cfm... ??? Anyway, the engine was supposed 375 hp stock so I'm ***uming I have around 400 now. I was hesitant to use it in this car becasue I wanted an older Hemi (331 or something) to keep my theme I wanted, but I had nothing else to put the engine in at the time and the cost was right (paid for along time ago). If I ever do the Hemi in that car, I'll put the 440 in my 70 Polara, which has a 383 4bbl right now.
Got one in my 48 Plymouth and in my 59 Plymouth and again in my 67 Dart. ain't no replacement for displacement!!!
Here's a multi carb setup that would work for ya. It'll actually work on B and RB block mopars. Sorry not for sale though.
I've got one in my 34 dodge roadster PU and I will have one in my 42 coe and my racetruck here are the pics of the trucks and the 6 pack setup for the roadster PU and the other picture is of a 440 duel quad setup that I sold. Ron...
This is my friends old 61 Phoenix and it has a 62 Chrysler frontend and also a 440 under the hood. It was customized in Sweden during the early 80's
I have one in my '49 wayfarer. I don't have any pictures to post, but there are some from when we were building it here: groups.msn.com/smithswayfarer It has KB pistons, a comp xtreme energy cam, roller rockers, sanderson headers, edelbrock intake and carb, etc. It makes the dodge scary fast.
i have a few b motors, i got hooked on them because they fit slightly better than an rb. i kept thinking of sticking a 400 dressed up with some 66 516 heads and some early accesories in my 31 es*** as i have a spare, but decided i really wanted something different and they are kind of on the chunky side, especially the 727 with it. your going to have so much torque. there are so many intakes out there i dont really think its worth making one although it would be pretty easy since they dont run water through them. i like the 3x2 intakes pre sixpac days. have any pics of what its going in?
Yea, its going in my 27 dodge 4dr sedan. Handmade frame, channeled, suicide front, WWW/steelies, long wheel base, low, UNchopped. Unsure of the headers, but theyll be hand made, just like everything else. The interior is a secret
1931 Willys Model 97 2 Door 69' Block ,904's, 4 Speed,8.75 my father had the stacks made across the street for my B-day I made headrers out of Sprint car header kit "Small Block Chebby" thanks Dad Cody Hurst
you wont be the first one to put a big block mopar in a tri 5 chevy, ive seen a few and thought they were awsome. that sedan is cool, but i dont think your 1" square tube frame is going to support the 440....
Can't beat the BB MOPAR long rams for sheer visual appeal, especially in an early car where they hang out of the engine compartment and/or over the fenders (if you're running fenders).
Well, yea, I use to race 70's era Volvos at PIR. Its was really fun, but I had to eventually sell to make room for my hotrodding hobby
Yea, I may have to rethink that ch***is. You really think itll twist up under that 440? haha HEY! What set up is this??? It looks like the six pack intake with 2bbl rochestors with a holley/rochestor adapter plate? Am I correct???? Its like this adapter that converts a smaller rochester 2bbl intake to a larger holley 2bbl carb, just reversed, right? Does it work that way?
btw, these rochesters look the same with small differences to the main center carb. Whats the differences to look for when looking for the tri set up. (primary in the center with 2 secondaries?)
jonodeck, what kind of finned valve covers are those? are they new? It looks like theyre just finned with no letters. Thats what Im looking for, but all Im finding are ones that say something on them. thx
Do you have any pics of how you made your motor mounts??? Im curious what people are doing for motor mounts with a rod for their 440s. thx
Easy enough to build frame brackets to use the late spool mounts bolted to the stock ears on the motor.
yeah it looks like they just adapted the rochesters to the 6 pac manifold. there are older style manifolds that dont look like the hi rise 6pac, they are earlier designs, probably dont perform as well but definitely look more liek a product of the 50s/early 60s. edelbrock made one and you can still buy a new offy that those carbs will bot on. i also think there was a weiend.
not a 440 but rather a 413 but basically the same motor or at least in the same family. this is in my dads 33 plymouth.
