Have a safe trip and for Gods sake bring those cameras and let us Losers who cant go know whats going on! Plowboy save me a couple XL shirts please I'll come get them soon
Thanks. Looks like we are missing a huge storm coming from Texas thats supposed to hit late Friday/Saturday... Everyone have a safe trip!
You ain't missin' sh*t ! Damn snow and ice. This is TEXAS, for God's sake. Yesterday, mowing in shorts and t-shirt. Today - freezing - damn - rain and snow. WHAT THE HELL. NO, it doesn't make me wish I was in Detroit. Y'all have fun at the show, and think of us freeezing in Txas.
I'll be there with at least two 35mm cameras, at least two digital cameras and one guy who takes photos out of airplanes for a living. Vance
****, I just looked at the weather forecast for Fiday and Saturday. Ice and snow the whole way up. ....doesn't look like I'll be driving my usual 7 mph over the posted speed limit. I guess I'll wait until close to departure time to see if I can realistically get there and back in the time I have available.
Not a lot of place to fly over and get any good car pictures, Vance, so you'd better make your's work good! Hope to see you all tomorrow.
Rub it in!!!! I'll be driving right into that mess! Hope it goes south of the lakes. Look out Buffalo!
Ok guys its the ****ing weather men.. These ****s dont even have windows to look out of.. I just dont think its anything to worry about.. I already decided though if its that bad saturday morning im heading to the garage to work on the roadster . 4x4 or not im not gonna play with the idiots on the highway . Dave
FAB32 and I just got back from the show. Thanks to RainX and a tire shop all of the Nightmares cars got there. Saw HRLC and BigOlds upstaires and plowboy and the other rockstars downstairs. Lots of cool stuff as always. Dave Shuten has the restored Ice Truck upstairs and is heading to the left coast next wednesday to start the restoration on the Oribitron. Lots of other stuff going on as well.
Best showing of cars to date, i think. and keep a look out up stairs there are some real nice cars hidden around up there. Plowboys, Atomic punk is amazing i could stare at it for hours...
Captain, are you heading down in the morning? RamblerMike and I are planning on getting there midday, but if we hit bad weather I'm taking my time (gotta keep the beer safe) Flatman
Ok this just ****S! We were planning on going down Sunday (I have to work Sat.) but if the weather is bad we won't. Sorry, it's not worth the risk (taking my girlfriend and her son) if it's icey, 75 gets BAD. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone, been out of the loop lately with my work schedule. I even had hopes of entering the T-Bird this year but I just couldn't afford it. Everyone have a safe trip. Hope to see you all on Sunday.
I have to work till 1 tomorrow, just in time for the snow to start. I'm picking up Ed if he can split a little early. I have a motel in Chatham so I'll be close in the morning for the run into Motown. The snow is not what bothers me it's all the *******s that can't drive in it in front of me!!!! I can ride a push bike in this stuff! I have Big Chiefs care package stowed aboard the great pumpkin (My orange Yaris) and will be trading for some Arrogant ******* Ale!
Yeah right! The 401 scare the **** out of me when it's snowing or even raining. What the hell is it with that f'n freeway!?!??!!?
we are going to get it tonite and through tomorrow here in Tennessee, 3 to 5 inches which will be nice because if we get snow its usually a flurry and its gone within hours after it happens. but i wish everyone there a good time and please be careful going to and from the show. the season is just starting and i am looking forward in spending some time with you guys at some of the meets. PLEASE SEND PICS!!!!!!
I'll be getting into town around 11:00pm Detroit time. Gonna go to a few bars, any places worth going to? I'll be at show Saturday and leaving Sat night. I will take lots of pics for everyone. I just don't know when I will get around to uploading them.
Is the thought of driving 1000 miles (500 up and 500 home) in the snow and ice.....completely and totaly ****in' nuts????? I'm not giving up yet.
-If you're staying in the city, you might like to go to The Lager House on Michigan Ave just west of MGM casino. -Another cool place, not too far away, is the 2500 Club in the C*** corridor (one block north of I-75 and one block west of Woodward). -If you want to take a very short drive up north on I-75 to Hamtramck (I-75 north, Caniff exit and turn right) and check out The Belmont. -Also, just up Woodward, across from Comerica Park and Ford Field, is a small bar called the State Bar. Plenty of places to have a drink, but you don't want to get stuck some place ****ty ya know?
Someone earlier in the thread said something about 75 being closed and we'll need to take Fourth Street in... What's up with that? Vance
I-75 south of downtown is closed (by the Amb***ador bridge). It's supposed to be closed for to years (ack!). To make it easier: Take I-75 to the Telegraph Road exit. Head North on Telegraph until you come to I-94. Take I-94 East to I-75/I-375 South. Stay on the I-375/Jefferson Ave./Civic Center. You'll be dumped onto Jefferson Ave and it will take you right to Cobo. Compare what I have on Mapquest or something so you can visualize it. Traffic is supposed to be pretty ****ty around the construction zone.
Im leaving early in the morning Ill be in the plowboy/SoWhat crew party area fri afternoon and Sat leaving early Sun Morning. Ill take a picture of your shirt for you mike Hell I might even spill a beer on it for ya,
Just left the show after setting up & the cars are AMAZING this year. Better'n last year! Love that Finkosel! Ya just gotta come on up for the show! Those a$$hole weathermen haven't been right about **** lately!
Ye hah!The street I was refering to was Fort st.,it runs along I 75 and comes in by Cobo about a block north(?)I'm sure there are detours posted, but an alternative may be Southfield(M39?)to michigan or I96.See you there tomorrow(Sat!)
Holy **** that was a bad drive!!! We left Franklin, KY at 7:00 PM Friday and didn't arrive in Detroit until 11:00 AM on Saturday. We saw hundreds of cars run off of the road (ford explorers were the worse @ 20+ ). The blowing snow in Ohio was the worse **** I have ever driven in. We made it there and back in one piece. On a good note, the Autorama kicked ***! (the Atomic Punk t-shirt is cool too)
Me, Stevo, S****s and another friend of mine left Dayton at 5:50AM and arrived in Cobo at 9:40AM, not bad in my opinion. And as Flipper said, Autorama kicked ***. I spent most of my time in the striper's booth, but it was still great. Vance
