In the garage earlier looking at the A and wondering why Im taking the long way around again. After the last one I decided I would do whatever I had to to keep from starting with rusty junk. But money is always tight so I find myself building this Model A quite literally from others' cast-offs. Doing ridiculous stuff I think would normally be an act of desperation to save a car considered more desirable and valuable than an A. I guess I want it pretty bad and I thought it looked pretty interesting so I rolled it outside for some pictures.

  9. You should be very proud of yourself. I love it when a cool car is built from s****s. It's not the easiest way but you will have a great feeling of accomplishment when done. Look forward to seeing it done!

There is no price that can be put on the pride that you will feel when it's done. The majority of people that you meet won't have any idea what it took to accomplish your goals. Keep us up to date. We do understand and get some ******istic excitement from watching it progress.

I just wish that I was smart enough to get your semi-blatant hints.:D

It's kind off funny for the old timers. The cars that we got for peanuts that were p***ed over as junk by the restorers back in the 60s are considered cherries by todays standards.

    It's looking great!

That car looks great. When it is all in primer or paint it will be fun to show people the scars on the inside of the body.

We need more updates on this one..... more often.

  19. I agree. I love to see stuff like this. I get a great satisfaction from building something from other peoples "cast-offs". Best of luck on your build. I already see more skill/talent then I foresee for myself.

My hats off to you Kevin, you obviously wanted it bad. Its inspiring to see cars like yours, Jays and Jeffs go together from cast off PIECES. Maybe I'll start looking at those parts I see laying a little differently now. Thats a real accomplishment.

Anyone can buy a whole car. A true test of one's ablitilty is to build it from s****s. It looks good.

It all depends on how bad you want it.

I've said the same thing many times when asked about my roadster and how I did it and so on. (I was 23 when I started the build) I know that doesn't seem very young here, but I didn't have my dad around to teach me, no garage to build it in, very little money for parts and not a very good selection of tools.

The majority of the build took place under the carport at a house I was renting at the time with 2 other roommates. The body work was done inside the converted "Florida room" by tipping the body on it's side and carring it through the doorway. Whenever I was offered parts because they were being thrown away, I was there to get them asap, whether I could use em or not. (Trading material dontcha know!)

Looking back on it, I have no idea how I got so lucky to be able to do it with so little money. How nothing was ever stolen from the carport, I have NO idea. How I built it, knowing next to nothing compared to what I know now, I'll never figure out. I do know that I made some great friends along the way that had the patience to answer all my dumb questions though. It was a great time for me and the struggles endured made that first ride nothing less than incredible!

It all depends on how bad you want it. Great job Kevin, yer doin it right man!!! Keep us posted.

If everyone's favorite "Non-Surfer" can do it, you can do it.
