I found an old g***er and I really want to buy it and the guy is not sure what he wants and wants me to "make me an offer" on it so I figured I would throw it up on here and get some input I really like the car but it is rough at best. There is a bunch of fibergl*** work that needs to be done. It has a new (25 years ago) front clip that is just laying on the car it was raced in the early 70's but went into the wall and has been in it's current location since 74. There was a lean to roof over it until 5 years ago when it was torn down. Take a look at the pics and chime in.It does have a ***le and vin tag I do not know if that would make a difference or not.

Yes it does have a ch***is it was built by a ch***is builder in the Chicago area it looks like 2x4 steel with a straight axle and spindle mounts. There is no rearend under it.

  5. Would that say "Lou Price"? At first I thought it said "Low Price". Taking that as a cue, I'd start low, like $1000. It is an interesting car.

  7. That'd be cool to see it fixed mechanically but not cosmetically.

Has it been chopped?............I am uneducated on these things but it looks like a hunk of fibergl*** that used to be a vette..............I would say you would be safe either way at 500 bucks, you can always go up but its hard to come back down...............if he says no, then say, price it!

I talked to one of the oldtimers at work. I thought he might remember this car since he ran a vette in the early 70s.

    Well, he doesn't.

He did say that the name on the decklid it Teter Automotive out of Elgin, Il. (Larry Teter he thinks was the owner)

He said the name looks like Lee Price... which sounded familiar to him. He guessed it ran at Cordova or Rockford as he frequented US 30 and Union Grove and doesnt remember it.

Tommy (my guy here) is as sharp as a tack when it comes to remembering cars and names. So if he recognized it he would have spit out a whole bunch of info about it.

To keep my ramblings on topic... since you asked about price... he said offer $600. :)

That is cool, but .. you're just buying an idea. The car needs everything. Maybe a grand since it has the ***le.

Thanks for trying I think the name is LOU PRICE on the car but I will keep trying I was thinking the car was worth more since it has a ***le and vin tag I know it is rough. The guy did say he has some stainless and other misc. parts.

My guess is that if he thought it was worth much of anything, he would have been taking better care of it. Looks like he sold all the other "good" parts a long time ago and this is what's left. I would low ball $500. It's cool and has got potential, but needs a lot of work obviously, and that might be an understatement.

If it's been into the wall, you can probably bet it has some ch***is issues. But I'd jump on it!

C'mon guys, I am NOT Vette lover, or liker for that matter, but a Vette like that should bring some pretty good money even if it's a butchered racer/crashed. I too would offer low, but I wouldn't be surprised if he would want a lot more.

You would be amazed at what people leave outside for dead, but wouldn't sell for all the money in the world, or at least think it's the best thing ever, but it still just sits and rots

  19. I wouldn't spend any more than $500. It's really rough.

For a Vette.... This 1st thing you do is get the vintage information and run it past the Bloomington boys. Hell, you could be, by chance sitting on a Fuelie Car or some other special deal. The Vin. and ***le are worth checking out.

I'd think the ***le and the vin tag would fetch a grand to the person in need.

The chop looks cool, but I seriously doubt that a cage that would p*** tech these days could be built in it. I also doubt that anyone over about 5'3" could drive it. Looks like a lot of good parts there, but as far as work, it looks like a project comparable to starting with a repro body. As was mentioned above, most of the value could be in the VIN tag.

The guy does not remember what the name of the shop was but there is a shop name on the deck lid. He did tell me that it ran A gas so you are correct this was a pretty high dollar car at one time. I may put it up on g***ermadness and see if anyone knows anything. I think the guy wants more than it's worth to me but just finding out info on it would be cool. And if I cannot afford it I will p*** on the info to someone else.
