Of the photos that I've seen I think this is the car of the show. I can't wait to see it finished. Well not too finished. It looks so good without paint.

Awesome! Way better than that Volvo ride. This is how a fresh interpretation of classic car building should be. That is art!

He plans on no paint for a while. It actually went together real quick Wed. night. Dan looks like a giant sitting in (on?) it. Really cool build. Glad to be a part of it (however small).

I did'nt think cars could be built using an erector set. Looks like it will weigh about 500 pounds when finished.

Correct me if I am wrong, but since this has now been shown in public, isn't it now ineligible to enter for the Ridler? If it is indeed now excluded, that is cool beyond words - to raise the bar to a level that blows everything else out of the water and not to give a damn about trophies.

  10. Yes a work of art indeed. I pleaded with him as well as others to leave it in bare metal.

Looking forward to seeing it completed.

It appears to be mostly aluminum. It wouldn't be to big of deal to leave it unfinished. Maybe just brushed like the occasional Cobra would of been.

Doesn't care about the Ridler. He just wants to build the best he can. I joked with him Wed. night when he told me he can't do any better....he said the same thing with Ashley's Wedge Roadster. I sure envy his talent and skill as well as his eye for deatail and design.

That's cool as hell that he doesn't care about the awards. Honestly, I don't think that he would win anyway. His car is nowhere near predictable or cliche enough to win the Ridler.

I actually love the "guts" of this more than I will the finished car (I think).

How does he keep the thing so perfect and clean in mid-build? Amazing in every way.

This thing has my brain going crazy. Some ideas are new. Some are old and newly remembered. I just need to improve my skills. This car is pure inspiration.

if it didnt win the ridler it would be a close second to getting it. that is a rolling piece of art deco there! and i thought Ryan would like it seeing he digs the teardrops and like me he loves the intense attention to detail. its nice to know there are still craftsman out there doing it for the sake of just seeing if it can be done. and it shows with him not even caring if it wins the first anything. i do hope he leaves it "bare" it fits in with the high end one off sports racers of the 30' and 40's.

I was taking a stab at the last several Ridler winners and the cars that usually compete for it. Not Dan or his car. I was hoping that wouldn't be misunderstood when I posted it.

  20. Dan Webb has shown us the the same ability that Miller and Bugatti had to make every part functional and absolutly beautiful at the same time. I don't know the size of his organization, but I expect the in house bit is very small. Just fantastic overall design and attention to detail.

  21. I spoke to Ash about it (While someone was interviewing Dan) and she says that he has most of the other body work done. She also said that he is considering changing the framing already, I don't know to what.

What an impressive piece though. Truly awesome.

...actually, the car is done about 95% "in house"!

I know where you were coming from, seems the ridler is more of the swoopy remods and over exaggerated lines, then out right one offs. but there is hope............i hope?!?

That is absolutely the most beautiful craftsmanship and attention to detail I have ever seen! He should have done two at the same time. One to leave partialy completed and the other completed!

I believe at one point in time that was the plan, to build two chassis and only body one. However I'm not sure if that is still in the works.

    Regardless, I love this car!

  26. Sorry, I didn't say what I was thinking - which was that he was doing most everything him self, with a rather small organization.

Is this the same car that people were posting pix of as just a rolling chassis last year?
