Back in '84 someone stole the 650 BSA chopper project I was building. Never got it back. Someone also stole the custom flamed bed cover I made for my '48 Chevy pickup. It was in the backyard. :(

I had someone take the gear knob out of my coupe, parked in a secure restricted part of an operational military air base. Odd thing was they left my wallet and all the money ($5) in it and a Perks 95 pound long bow, quiver with about 40 arrows in it!

When I was in high school I raced motorcross, I blwe the motor on my KX 250 playing with fuel additives (Dont ask) The bike was in bits with parts stashed all over the garage. The bike and every part for it was taken, I know who did it but never got the chance to pay him back. Yet.

Yet... I like that, Doc. When I was in seminary, some punk stole the side covers off of my Honda 500. They were not too common, and he lived and worked real close to my house. So one night I went to where he worked, and he wound up in a little fist fight. His friends all come out, the dance is over - I got to light up his nose, but I still get mad about that puke and him stealin my stuff.

While my daughter was away at college some jackass cut a hole in the convertible top of her Miata, reached in and took a coffee cup with about .25 cents worth of pennies that was sitting in the drink holder

Years ago when 8 tracks were popular, I had a 4 track. They were almost obsolete when they came out. Came out one morning and the door on my 68 Super Bee was open, someone had stolen my 4 track. Didn't know if I needed to be pissed or pitty the fools.

Broke into my store and got $40,000 in custom wheels and tires. Cut phone lines and destroyed security system. Never caught them! Real pros.

I've had the typical stolen radio twice... Makes your stomach sink when you see the broken window for the first time, you just feel so violated.

On my '50, after I shaved the trim and door handles I sprayed it in grey primer and parked it out on the street. Someone came and took a "tag" on the side of my car. That's graffitti in layman's terms...

They woke me up backed out of the driveway. The chase was on, I jump up grab my friends Smith and Wesson fly downstairs not touching a single stair. Grab wifes keys and Im a 1/4 mile away at 3:00 in the morning. My wife dials 911 her discription to operator was he's in the car the truck was stolen. I am right behind them and I see flashing lights I stop to flag Barnie Fieth down, We chase them another mile and they jump and run into a corn field. When I stop and get out they aproach me and ask for some ID well at this point humor was not apreciated by me fortunatley i sleep with breefs on but tha was it, and my freind i brought. Then they ask the 911 operator to have my wife ID me over the phone. Now it was funny.
Never cuaght them got my truck back. Investigator recovered prints from the front of my hood and a screwdriver found. I had to tell them that the cops opened my hood (one print)and tryed to shut off my truck but couldnt so they use the screwdriver in the ignition to turn it off (print #2) Go Figure, Best thing that happened was I didnt catch them.

While in a mechanics shop, my brothers Pontiac had the horn button stolen as well as various parts that were "lost" or "never given" to the mechanic that he had to buy more of. Couldn't do much about it legally, no "hard eveidence" and he went bankrupt 3 years ago. No mechanic touches the car now. Never will. And I hate people.

Lots of car parts, money, and radio's over the years.

But the biggest one was my car carrier stolen from my workplace. The owner let me store it there for free if they could use it to move equipment now and then. It was less than 4 months old and had about 400 miles on it.

They stole it on a Sunday night. Called the police Monday morning. They took all the info and left. Monday night the POS came back and stole our shop truck, and tried to seal the personal truck of one of my techs in the parking lot.

They found our shop truck about 30 miles away. It was used to smash the doors of a transmission repair shop which they robbed. They totaled the truck and left it there.

The POS was never found. Our company insurance deductable was higher than what my trailer sold for. The insurance on the truck paid it off.

The owner of our company felt bad and gave me a check to go out and buy a new trailer with. I tried to turn it down but he insisted. I keep my new trailer at home, but still use it for work sometimes. He is a good guy and I am damn lucky to work for him.

Got another story. When I was a Chevrolet dealer in Greenville Al, I had two cars stollen at the same time. One was a new pontiac firebird v8 and the other was a new 6 cyl camaro. Both were the same color of blue. when the info was radioed to the hwy patrol an officer had just spotted a camaro going the opposite way and he turned around in persuit. The driver started trying to run from him and we were fortunate that he was in the 6 cyl camaro. The thief decided he couldn't out run him so he pulled over in a ditch and began to run. The officer chased him and caught him. His passenger was a female and she got away though a field into the woods. They called the sheriff dept and they brought out the dogs. The dogs picked up the smell and the chase was on. They found a blouse and went a little further and found her pants. A little farther and they found her bra. The dogs were hot on her trail. A little farther and they found her panties. The dogs went to a tree and started howling. There she was up in the tree jaybird naked. They got her out of the tree and she told them that she thought if she shed her clothes the dogs couldn't find her. What a dumb ass. I got both vehicles back. They still laugh about this story and it happened in 1989.

Went into a Pontiac dealer in around 1976 to test drive a new Trans Am. Picked out a nice dark blue one for test drive. When the salesman came back with the key I asked him if the car came with a transmission or if it was extra. He said huh? I said this car doesn't have a tranny! Theres a hole in the console where the shifter is supposed to be! Theives had hit the dealership sometime in the night and had taken 4-5 transmissions out of brand new cars.

Well, back before cell phones, I had to leave my 64 Riviera on the side of the road and walk a few miles..by the time I got back the car had been broken into and really they were just after the stereo..couldn't get it because it was just in there too good so they went after the 6x9 speakers..had trouble with those and to get the back one they just took the entire backseat!..I had fun driving around for awhile with just a mattress and pillows back there...

I used to think someone was getting into the shop all the time and stealing parts , tools etc.

Then I found out I'm old and don't remember where I put half my shit.

Rural MN, nothing... you've just been lucky! :)

I used to live in Downtown Minneapolis for about four years back in the 90's... parked on the street. Never had any problems (other than with snow emergencies). I went to a Wedding an hour north at a town hall (Lent town hall to be precise), and my back window was busted out, CD player, CD's, bag of clothes, and a toolbox were stolen.

Now I work in Rush City, MN... I've had my Jeep broken into twice in the parking lot here during the day... dang kids. Now I don't bother locking it...

Caught a schmuck trying to steal my wife's daily when I lived in Whittier a couple years ago.Dragged him out of the car and beat the shit out of him. Cops finally showed up 30 minutes into it and tell me I was lucky they found my wife's cell charger in his pocket. Turns out that since I was beating the shit out him he could have got ME for assualt since no one but me saw him in the car and they found us on the street. With the cell charger it turned from attempted car theft to "burglary". The best site was them dragging his sorry, bloody ass off and he's crying and puking cause it was strike #3.

i took my 56 chevy sedan, daily driver, to the movies. got out at about 1am, drove home. next morning i walk out to my car and some ass wipe thought i would be cool to mark his fuckin territory on the roof of my car. they carved "WSP" (West Side Pomona) into the paint all the way down to metal. just above my passenger door.
tried to color sand it but it went to deep.
