That's the spirit, way to support a HAMB event that a)was a 1rst time event (it will grow).b)was actually in the same state as you. Try being where traditional events are always hours or days away, including a border crossing which usually means a few hours delay. I'd love to attend, just to meet the fine people that put out the effort,to organize an event like this for HAMB members and their families. And some day i want to meet Denise,so i can thank such an enthusiastic supporter of this hobby,in person.:D

Well, Mr. Betruger, this meteorg***er fellow IS en***led to his opinion.

In fact after last year’s show he expressed them and all he did was cast aspersions upon those of us who were there, and in fact DID have a good time. It’s obvious to me that this gathering is not for him and I hope, if he doesn’t think he is treated right, that he will choose not to come back.
Pistachio nut ice cream is made 'cause not everyone likes chocolate!

But I, for one, am not interested in hearing his nay saying again. Most of what he said last time was sniveling about things that were completely within his power to make better.
He complained that he was not made to feel welcome. I recall greeting him immediately upon his arrival, but I guess I’m not dynamic enough for him to remember. He then proceeded with the name calling, the band that cancelled didn’t suit him, there were no girls for him to accost, there weren’t enough cars, too many trailers, etc. bla bla bla. How is this show about him?

So, I think he behaved badly also, and would prefer that he take his “negative vibes” elsewhere. It’s not my/our mission in life to make sure he is happy. I have enough of that to keep track of in my own world.

We are looking forward to the show and will do our best to support it, in spite of its flaws or oversights. It will grow and get better.

It was worth it to me just to see the Lincoln in the above pics. Gawd that thing is beautiful.

Hannah and I had a great time last year. Thanks to all all the people that made her trip enjoyable. We are planning on going with the Indy group again this year and expect it to be a blast.
Jim and Scott....we need to start working on EL-TOM-O. Him and Naomi need to go with us this year.

My kids saw "Rebel Without A Cause" on the big screen, with a speaker in the window, all three sitting in the Lazy 8! I will remember that night for the rest of my life! I also think that they will ......

I will remember watching 'Rebel Without A Cause' behind the Lazy 8 for the rest of my life!

I am VERY much looking forward to the Cinematic again this year. I know Ryan and Marcie are working on planning some fun events around the actual show. Southern Ohio/northern WV is a beautiful area with lots of country to explore!

For those of you who don't know, there is a separate 'board' here on the HAMB where the Cinematic is discussed in more detail, it can be found here:
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=40

or by going to the main HAMB forums page and scrolling down to 'Hot Rod Cinematic'

I look forward to the gang from last year and meeting lots of new HAMBers this year!:D

Looking forward to it. Was in Myrtle Beach last year, so this will be my first. It's only 45 minutes from my house. Obviously the guys that didn't like it have never been to a cruise night around here. It's like stepping into the depths of Hades. I welcome ANYTHING that has a hint of traditional rods. LOL

It's the same day as the Road Devils Hell on Wheels event at National Trails. :(
I'm glad we seem to have so much hot rod activity in Ohio but do they really have to be on the same day?

Some will complain no matter what is done. I went last year with a whole group from western Ohio.....some were happy some were not. I for one had a great time. Everytime I attend a HAMB gathering I meet some people I have never met before and get to see friends that I don't get to see very often.

Sure the swap area was small, the band canceled but the burgers and spam were great and I didn't feel I was "confined or contained" at all. I spend at least an hour talking to Flathead Youngin's grandad and that alone was enough of a highlight for me. It was the initial year and I'm sure it will grow. There had to be some bugs in it as it was arranged from 2,000 miles away and I'm amazed that Marcie, Ryan and their Texas friends pulled it off as well as they did.

Some that I went with last year won't be there this year but that's ok as I will meet some new friends anyhow and that's what it's all about for me. And I will again go with my grandson with his Galaxie and his 18" wire wheels but that's ok too because that's what he likes.

The HAMB is a big family and we can't always get along with each other.

Now to return to our regular programming!!!!

I'm skipping VLV this year because I had to put new windows in the house. I decided not to go to Billetproof Florida because of gas prices and I'm out of cash from Autorama. However, I already put in for vacation and started saving up for this show. I talked to a couple of HAMBers who went last year and they said this one is a can't miss event. Plus it's not too far away.

They always say its not the game you play but who you play with and how you play it.
We had a ball! It was great to finally get to meet so many Hambers. I have great respect for those in this group. It was a great family oriented fun time.
    Want to make it better???
How about we fill the whole damn drive-in this time?
Don't miss this.. its a blast.

Anytime there is a chance to meet THAT many other HAMBers to put faces to names, I'll go if I can. Being able to see other HAMBers that I don't get to see enough I'll go if I can.

Seeing the Lazy 8, Doc's TWO cars that he had brought are things I won't soon forget. Nor will I forget sitting in Stevo's UnFairlane for the drive down and back; not to mention having a Prime front row for 'Rebel' in that car. That is something I'll remember even with my increasingly bad memory.

This should be a banner year, for me at least. If everything goes as planned, I'll be sitting in my own car for whatever movie is arranged.

See you all in June! I'll have a new banner for signatures too; so be prepared!

Hey folks... I cleaned this thread up a bit. We welcome opinion and feedback on all of our shows. Really, it's the only way we can make them better. I'm just not down with trash talking.

That said, we were pretty happy with last year's show but definitely want to make some changes for this year to make it better. For instance, this year we are planning (with the help of some very nice hambers) more stuff to do before, during, and after the show. In fact, I think Marcie has already contacted a great band that will be providing the day light entertainment.

And the movie? We are enduring that process right now. In fact, our netflix queue is packed full of vintage films for preview.

I enjoyed talking to you Friday night, not sure if you enjoyed my drunk ramblings:p. It was a fun first time show and being in the chevy with my wife watching rebel was a real highlight. Alas, we won't be there this year, more of a every-other-year thing for us hopefully. Have fun and watch out for those trailer park girls! (those that went back to the hotel after rebel know what I'm talking about:eek:)

Sorry you can't be there this year but can I have your portion of the Spam?:eek:

That makes it pretty obvious I left you on Sunday night. I should have brought it home with me. It wouldn't have even lasted the 3 hour trip!
