I own a Batman website and was sent these photos asking if this car was used in the TV series ( it was not ) but thought it was really unusual. The emailer did not give me a vin # or anything else to go on but these pix. It is wrecked in a junkyar but it did make me wonder what kind of car. Any of you gurus have an idea ?

  5. That took almost 9 minutes, you guys are slipping.

The roof and rear window look 49-51 Ford, and the tail lights... Plymouth?

I looked thru a few books & could not find a pic that even comes close to the wreck. It is kinda cool & someone should rebuild it for the grins of it!

Since you mentioned batman, here is another Studebaker sacrificed for Gotham City. Says "Jokers Wild on the fin.

It resides some where in Central, NY. I have only seen it once (thank you Jesus) at the DeRuyter, NY show.

The one you posted look like it has a 49/50 Ford roof grafted on.

Wow, you guys are amazing - I had looked at all kinds of cars - many of the 50's concept cars from Ghia. Looks like it would be quite a project. The guy looking at the car was told it was used in the TV show as the Pengin's car. There seemed to be a great deal of metal work on the fenders if it strarted life as a Hawk.

Cool car, it was never used in the series either. G Barris had a hand in " creating " ( or just putting his name on ) many of the cars in the TV series. The Wayne Limo was a Chrysler Imperial ( same as the Black Beauty from Green Hornet Fame ).

It looks like it needs to be brought back to life. A few simple changes like swapping the portholes for quarter windows and a general descabbing and it could be slick.

That is a cool looking ride... I wonder what the story was behind it... How old are those photos? They look pretty dated (1980s?) Look at the other cars in the yard...

I think the photos are a few years old - he said he had to scan regular photos so that could explain the color variation. I believe it also was somewhere possibly near Colorado.... cant quite remember where except I thought it was a ways from Hollywood where they were claiming it was used on the show.

It looks like it started life as a 55 or 56 Studebaker Champion.Just going by the door/cowl area and the A pillar and windsheild. The fins are an add on.But the car is definately a Champ!!!!!!
