I think there's a car on my new Mad Fabricators DVD that is using a heavy truck axle. I'll check it out again. I've only watched it once and I fell asleep cause I had just got off of work. Laterman, Josh.

Well the spindle bearings and brakes are so big it would be hard to find a set of wheels to fit right, unless you went with a 8 or 10 lug wheel.
I work for International and have eyeballed some of the older 1600 axles for the same reason.:D

Yeh they are big alright...I had a look at one on a 32 big truck, i reckon you could make it work with car spindles and some clever machining..
the wishbone is definitely worth considering, they have a really handy kink up at the ball that would help get underneath the rails on a low car with unsplit bones.

Deuce big beam or small beam? It's strange that I have 2 BB chassis in my stash and neither has what is called a big beam axle. I have several 32 car front ends and they are all the big beam. I am going to build the short wheel base BB and will switch to the big beam axle because it looks more like a truck axle.

not a 32 heavy axle...bigger again. taller spindle boss and perch pin boss, might have been on 2 ton and up? the 32 "heavy" axle is not even close to the size of these things..

You could machine the stubs down to car size:confused: Its not quite legal here in Sydney, but i don't think it should be a problem in the States.:)
