Sent my opposition. http://echo.bluehornet.com/hostedem...219944473&ch=9A01B3517C24329DD3994EF89449B7EA
Another occasion where lawmakers hvae no f-in clue what they're even doing. It's my understanding FL is going to start emission testing in the future, so I've been trying to keep up on it. Maybe Florez's neighbor has a 'rat rod' and that pushed him over the edge, but then again politicians are unpredictable, just like a snake.
Kill it fellas! What happens in Cali typically becomes what happens in Texas! Only difference is, we seem to be getting more "blanket" laws instead of county-by-county.
this is just another example of our elected reps paying no attention to what the people need or ask them to do!! i just can't figure out who is electing these people!! nobody confesses they voted for these clowns. i am not getting all political about this, but if you look at the authors of these and all the other dipshi* laws they try to pass, it is always democrats. before you say it, i am not a replublican either. everybody you talk to here bitches about the way it is and these kind of clowns still keep getting elected!! as far as freedom goes, this country is on the downhill slide and going fast. just look at the sorry excuses for candidates we have this year!! the strange thing is, every generation has it's complaints about the way the country is going, so this is nothing new, except just think back to what life was like 40 years ago. we had good times and bad, but not like today, in my opinion.
i sent them an email. i really hope that by the time i finish college and get my car on the road ill be able to enjoy the same hot rodding im in love with today. its bad enough im stuck on the sidelines.
I'd like to see the politico's put their money where their mouths are. Ban the sale of gasoline, diesel, E-85 and jet fuel in CA. I'd also like to see the auto companies have the balls to tell CA to stuff it. This is our car, buy or don't, but this is the mileage it gets and this is the emissions it puts out. First, it will show this is no longer an automotive issue. Let the left coast go back to horse and carriage. I can see the covered wagons going thru the Donner Pass again...
There is a link on that page to send an email to all members of the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee. That link puts all of their email addresses in one email separated by semi-colons. This may or may not work for your email application - it didn't work for mine. My email application (Eudora) requires that the email addresses in a group be separtated by commas. That's an easy thing to fix if your email application requires it. I decided it was better to send an individual email (with the same content) to each senator because there will then only be one address in the "TO" field that the person receives. It takes a little longer to copy and paste the subject and content into 10 individual emails but I think it looks less like a form letter.
Emails to 3 addresses bounced. In order to contact Ellen Corbett you have to go here (it's long - copy and paste it all into your address bar): http://dist10.casen.govoffice.com/index.asp?Type=DYNAFORM&SEC={5DBC6F3D-C8DB-4CA8-A6D5-6A60F418F469} or Fax:**(916) 327-2433 or (510) 577-2308 To contact Gilbert Cedillo you have to go here: http://legplcms01.lc.ca.gov/PublicLCMS/ContactPopup.aspx?district=SD22 or Fax:**(916) 327-8817 or (213) 612-9591 Jenny Oropeza does not accept correspondence from anyone outside her district (her submission form will reject you if your address is outside her district). If you are in her district you can go here: http://legplcms01.lc.ca.gov/PublicLCMS/ContactPopup.aspx?district=SD28 or anyone can send her office a fax at (916) 323-6056 or (310) 318-6733
Sent a copy/paste... California’s current emissions testing exemption recognizes the minimal impact of pre-1976 motor vehicles on emissions and air quality. Pre-1976 vehicles constitute a small and shrinking portion of the overall vehicle population in California and are a poor source from which to look for further emissions reductions. Pre-1976 antique and classic vehicles are overwhelmingly well-maintained Added... This pretty much says it all.. If it doesn't say enough for you... We will repeat it at the polls....
That has been the threat since they stopped testing in the early 80s. I have seen or heard no of no bills in the state house that ask for testing.
Partially true. What happens here usually snowballs accross all states. Flood their in-boxes guys and gals!
SEMA has sent out alert on this. You do belong to the SEMA Action Network don't you? Free at: www.semasan.com Please notify any car nut you know in California about this. It may start here (hopefully not), but can land at your front door next.
From an outsider who lives in a state that has zero inspections..... how do they plan on checking say, a '32 Ford for emissions? Do they have standards for every car back to '03? I read the bill in question and it says that they are 'excluding the exemption' that's now in place for the pre-'76 cars that would be require registration by a new owner in a certain region. It doesn't explain how the inspection would be accomplished.
How will they make you smog a car/truck with no smog equipmnet? Are they going to make you put a smog pump on? Or not allow you to to renew your registration?
I don't understand why this keeps happening. pre- '76 cars make up such a small percentage of cars on the road. You could probably remove all pre-76 cars from the road and not see a significant drop in emissions. These people are clearly retarded.
As long as this politician and others have a state owned car and use state owned gas they will keep messing with the little guy. My rule Vote no on Yes and Yes on No and no politician get relected..
they would probably make you have whatever smog devices were on the year motor you put in it. The exception is they cant make you put in cats because the old cars dont have a heat shield in the floor to keep from starting on fire. Thats the way they do it now. It looks like it would be on newly registered old cars only so they would probably check your engine when they are checking your VIN # when you first bring in a car for plates. If you already have a pre 76 car registered in california you probably wouldnt have to do anything until you sold it. Thats the way it looks to me. Still sux and I have sent my emails.
Them California fellas are upstarts and y'all in Texas are transplants. The undisputed home of hot-rodding is Pennsylvania. After all, we just got to run legally without fenders or hoods. Good uck to you all in California fighting the fight for the rest of us. I'm off to log in to the SEMA action network.
This kinda stuff just BURNS me!!! And you're all correct in saying that once this stuff takes hold in 1 state, it'll march across the country. I can hardly wait until the new CAFE standards for the production of new cars include the same stipulations for our old cars. Then when you go to title your old car, they'll say that pre-1976 vehicles can't be used as daily transportation. And you know what the next logical step will be...
These guys don't know the real world and only see pre 76 Cars as rolling scrap piles or view them as antiques that don't get driven all. The worse thing is that they most likely have some greenie pulling their chains. The guys who don't own a car or drive a microbus to haul their bicycle where they can ride and be a road hazzard.
