I love the old wooden boats. Could be because I grew up with a carpenter for a father.

Some shots from a Chris Craft book I have.

Probably O/T to this post but yes I am into vintage boats. This one has consumed my life for several years. Two others and I built her. The owner of the HVAC company I work for decided he wanted a replica of a 1958 George Buechler design sailboat, although this one is 12’ longer, 64’ total, and we designed her with 7’ ceilings throughout, 78,000 lbs., sleeps eight comfortably and has all the luxuries a home can provide. Miles of SS, teak and mahogany. Engine is a 84 ci Westerbeke diesel and was the hardest thing to figure out. But with a several chain-falls and come-a-longs we managed. The pictures show the warehouse she started life in literally from the floor up to the roof out in St. Charles county, we had to remove the front of the building to get her out, stepping the keel (34’, 6800 lbs and scared us to death), the trip down the Mississippi (drag racing a barge) and over to Kentucky Lake. She now resides in Mobile where the mast was finally stepped. VERY proud moment!!! and the sails are now being made. Expect to be taking her to St. Thomas in a few weeks where she will spend the rest of her life. And maybe mine :) I have earned it, lots of lost digits, a seriously screwed up back which will sooner or later require surgery and NO time for Hot Rods, though the ’55 is getting some love now that she is down south and I am home for awhile.

I love the old wooden boats. There is a museum about an hour north of me that is dedicated to old wooden boats and the old wooden race boats from the thirties and forties, I have tons of fun in that museum.

I have a '55 Orlando Clipper aluminum boat running a '58 Johnson, and a '58 Lons Star Holiday that I hope to get in the water this summer.

I'm not into boats (NM is not water friendly, too far a drive to play) but last week my upholstery guy showed me a 61 something he just inherited, might sell it. It's fiberglass, the side looks just like a 58 Mercury with it's fins and chrome. Two tone aqua and white with a chrome 80 HP Evinrude on it, been in a garage it's whole life and mint condition. Way cool looking, told him to call me if he decides to sell it!

Riva Aquarama is what I used to lust for. Pretty much a Chris Craft.

    I dig 60's V-drive ski/race boats.....like Sangers, Hondos, Stevens, etc....real HOTROD boats, ya know?
There were quite a few entered in the car shows back in the day too....so not OT, especially considering many were running blown Hemi's or Olds from drag cars....

I want one bad! I actually put an ad on craigslist yesterday looking for a boat with large fins. I was in my bass tracker a few years ago on Lake Tenkiller with a dead battery, then a boat that resembled a '57 Chevy came along and gave me a jump. I've been wanting one ever since.

Hydrodyne. They are cool boats and I love the Mercury fins. I had one but sold it to a guy up in MN before I ever put it to use. Go to this link, scroll down and click "Hydrodyne". You'll find lots of pics of them, old brochures, and other info. http://www.fiberglassics.com/boats.html

Try Tom at www.cheapoldboats.com. He's in OK about 45 miles north of OKC. He always has some cheap old boats with fins and will probably have some for sale that aren't pictured on his website. Here's a link to a picture of a 1956 Wizard he has for sale cheap. Seems to me he wanted $550 for the boat, hardtop, and trailer. http://www.fiberglassics.com/forms/forum818/images/587_wizaed3.jpg

Here's mine, it's a 1959 kyrie, a small french boat maker, with a 1962 mercury engine. I've redonne all the varnish and the engine last year, and didn't found time to try it on water... may be some kind of titanic syndrome...
