Any way you can make them larger so we can view them better?

Not many photos of real '61 409s exist, but in the background is the Gatti Automotive car in West Hampton in '70. It's got more than a "few" wins!:) It's identical to Strickler's Ol' Reliable #1. Makes you wonder;)
IF anyone knows any more about this car or the owner, please post.

  9. The feeling of people I've talked to was that "Strick's" car was originally a 348 car and switched over when the 409's came available. I do wonder if that is his car in the background. The hood would have been changed. Strick ran a scoop in O/SS.

Yes, I know the hood would have had to be changed. As far as the rumor that the car started out as a 348, Jenkins was asked that question recently and he said it was ordered with the '09 and came in that way. At this time there is a Tribute car being built and Jenkins is on board with the project and a lot of assistance. He'll be getting the engine this Sat. to do the carbs and dyno it himself.:) The final version will be as an OS/S but without that ugly white hood scoop.

  14. This is Joe Alterizio's '61 Biscayne in '61-62 at Old Bridge in NJ. Originally this car was a 348/350, but later it was updated to a 409, hence the A/fx designation

Bob, That's a neat old shot. Just the way most cars were back then. Letter it up for the drags, then wash it off before Pop saw it and drive it to school the next morning! Thanks! But that car wouldn't have run in A/FX with a stock '61 '09. That was a legal A/Stock class. 2X4s & the big heads would have put it in FX though in '62.

BY the way, I love the old Buicks doing battle too!!:) That GS is GorgeouS!

    Guy,

Great to see you here! Keep those Buicks coming! Maybe you could paste a link to the vintage drag photo thread going on the "other" forum.

    Interesting Bob!
I'll have to compare pictures I have of the Milne Bros. '63 that I have. Could be that they had more than one car and this is also one of the Gloden Commando '63 cars. Thanks for posting this, wish I had more nformation for you.

Some of us don't have that option ... any way you might send a larger one ... I'd love to see that shot.

Great Bob ... you've got the picture bit working. Someone oughta fix up that old rough photo. Tell us about the car and it's racing history.

Great to hear they're doing a tribute car ... but they oughta do the white hood and scoop in my opinion. Too many restorations and replica/tribute cars, for my taste, are done too perfectly ... race cars need to be and look used. ... in my opinion. ;)

There is a Gatti Automotive near New Rochelle, NY ... might be the same one ... maybe some information and pictures can be had? The number can be Googled.

Good stuff! The Lennie Kennedy '61 (yes?) shot is great ... just the kind of stuff that you don't get anywhere else on the net ... or magazines, anywhere ... as far as I know ... thanks. Love it.
