  5. Don't have any pics of the Heath/Dyno Don '61 bubbletop, but do recall it being driven down Frederica St. in Owensboro at that time.
If you look closely at the Kentucky Colonels '65 Dodge AWB pics, that is David Heath driving. Unfortunately, I understand that David passed away prematurely due to cancer around 1970/71. By that time, he had gone back to school and was becoming an M.D. and I understand Dr. Pearson had helped him in that regard. David and Army Armstrong (the tractor pull announcer) built and drove a '67 Pontiac Firebird SS that Dr. Pearson owned.

After the '61 Chevy, David had a '64 Dodge S/S that also ran under the Kentucky Colonel name, so I would say with some certainty Heath was not running the Chevy in early '65 -- probably sold it prior to '64 models coming out.

The www.OldDrags.com site isn't mine. The site owner is on here rather infrequently and I would certainly like to see him post some more photos on the site. As for the Thunderbolts, I can readily identify a couple. One of the white ones is Conner Ford from Rockport, Indiana, and was an original T-Bolt. (I believe it may have been sold to a guy named Don Castrup from Evansville, IN and then painted metalflake blue). The "Prospector" T-bolt was owned by Doug "Pappy" Greenfield from Clarksville, TN.

Mark, ,I believe that is Nicholsons car, based on this with the exact lettering on the front fender & door.

But what about this car, and totally different paint and lettering? Different car? Later after the accident with the hood scoop?

I'd swear it has to be a new car, not the old patched up wreck. The red & white one just looks too good and too new. Anyone know if it was replaced after he sold the wrecked one? I know he took the old one to NY and won the weekend after the accident, but maybe it was just a little "tweaked" and he got rid of it. (might have saved the driveline).

You're right.. It's not as far forward on the fender. Makes you wonder if Don suggested the lettering he wanted on cars he dyno'd in exchange for advertising.

  12. Any more info on this picture/car?
1966 Biscayne, any idea what year this might be?

I would guess he ran the '66 in 1966, since he had this new '67 Chevelle. It would appear that the Chevelle is no longer under Annabelle Walker sponsorship. I have no clue as to the future of either car. Also, earlier I mistakenly said Rosenthal was in Alexandria, but it was in Arlington. They were a noted hi-perf dealer.

I was told this photo of the '66 was taken in July '67. (Joel?) Perhaps he was buying the cars as left-overs at a discount.

I'm hoping someone may be able to help me identify this car. '61 Belair Sport Coupe, originally a 6cyl car. No motor or trans now. 6.17 posi rear with added 2nd upper control arm, air bags in the rear coils, trunk mounted battery & electric pumps. Originally Jewel Blue with Blue interior. All orig. sheet metal except for the hood. Car came out of the Phila, Pa area. This is the car I was told was owned by Mousie Brown, but there's no proof of that at all. The "bullseye" photo shows the paint history, starting with factory primer, Jewel Blue, gray primer, white, red, white, gold. Can't find any lettering on the car at all. The mess on the front fender is the result of me sanding it down trying to find some lettering. It has an outline of a fish of some sort on one door, similar to the Fisher Bros Chevy fish that appears on 2 Musser Bros cars. Car also has two wide brown stripes lenthwise on the top. Ring any bells anyone???

Charlie Lendrum from Schenectady,NY had that Chevelle.Saw him run a few times at South Glens Falls.Think I have some pix. Will look.
Charlie also moved up to a 68 Hemi Dart that a friend of mine purchased from him.Had a deal to buy that Dart in the early-mid 70's and he sold it to someone else.Still ticks me off to this day.

  22. This appears to have turned into a mostly Chevy thread, which is fine but we need to see some Fords... Here is a shot of the Norristown Ford '63 lightweight Galaxie. This car has been restored and was formerly owned by Charlie Morris. This shot appears to be Mason Dixon Dragway in Hagerstown MD. I do not know the origin of this photo. Lets see some Fords!!:D

I apologize if I'm contributing to this becoming a "Chevy thread", but that's all I know:confused:. I appreciate ALL the early Stock, SS, FX stuff. I just can't contribute other brands. My first car was '56 Ford and I had a new '69 Road Runner. Grew up with Pontiacs as my parents cars and they were tits.

Here's another (sorry) Chevy of interest. John James bought this new '66 Biscayne, 427/425hp car, pictured here at the Grove. He set the record with this car and ran it through '69. He sold it to the Valario Bros. (sp) in '71 and they ran it as the Pied Piper. Later, the car wound up on the street with a 396-375 in it, but still had the original rear when Ronnie Evans bought it in '81. He recognized the "Semi-Hemi" lettering on the door in the Bowtie. He called John James and told him he had his old car. John said, "no way, that car is in a junk yard". Ronnie rattled off the VIN number and he said, "No $%^&, that IS the car!" John was a Chevy parts dept manager who had a photographic memory and remembered the VIN. Ronnie had the car till '89 or '90 but didn't do anything with it because he got involved with another '62 '09 car. He sold it to Joe Fasio who advertised a wanted ad for a '66 L-72 car. Joe later bought a better equipped car and sold it to ????. No one knows where it is now.

The only year that the S/S Nationals was held at Cecil Co., MD back then was in 1967. I have a shot of this car in the pits from that meet. I'll have to get it scanned and posted. Side note ... Besides the very first S/S Nationals in '65 this meet was the best drag meet that I ever saw.
