    Don,
I'm glad you are OK but damn that's a shame. I hate to even look at those pictures. That is one of the coolest roadsters on the planet.

  6. Don,

I wouldn't sign off on anything until I had dismantled the car & had taken a complete assessment of the damage. Also, if you've not been checked for injuries I wouldn't sign off there either. You may physically feel the hit tomorrow.

My father recently had a relatively ugly wreck & suffered some repairable injuries. Two months later he looks fine but still has a some pain. A lawyer friend told him to not sign off for 6 months. He isn't out to sue anyone but doesn't want to be stuck with no recourse if further problems arise.

60 year old men don't heal like they did when they were 20.

Don gets the award for being the "Patron Saint of Patience & Understanding" for not beating that idiot to death with a driver's ed book.

Another sad reminder to always beware of the jerks & crazies on the road. If we always drive with our lights on, maybe those dolts might notice us, since we blend in so well.

    Glad yer OK.

Insurance companies have well developed ways of blowing down property damage values, and you're going to start hearing about that licensed appraisal you don't have...
BUT they are terrified by and much less able to deal with personal injury.
Go to a doctor right now with vague back and neck pain, just to get documented...then, every time they say "well, it was unappraised, so we can only value it at $12.75", you say "I'm still waiting for the X-ray reports, and my doctor says I may have to quit working...". They will get the message. Even the vaguest mess of backaches would cost them more than some cherry deuce panels...
I once, folklorically, might have used exactly this form of terrorism against a truck company's insurer to actually get full value of replacement parts on my faithful but wholly worthless rustbucket of a Nova. It probably was worth less than a new doorskin cost...but I got the dollars for all the panels they broke.

  10. I almost threw up my dinner!! That dude's premuims are going to skyrocket!

  11. Don,,man,,I hate it for you but you WILL get it back on the road.

Glad to hear you are OK. Sorry to see the roadster beat up like that.

Maybe contact 3WLarry - he should be able to give you a comp on what it costs to build a 32...and the market value on a nice one like yours.

Let's ALL hope and pray he has enough insurance.
A guy I know was rear ended in his fiberglass Hiboy Deuce roadster and it caught on fire because the fuel tank was broke open on impact. The girl ( on a cell phone ) had insurance but it only met the state's low basic requirement ( 20 grand total ... if I remember correctly ) so he had to get his insurance to help fix the roadster. BIG HASSLE :( He finally got the $$$ but he is not back on the road yet.

Don ... if there is anything I can do to help ... you have my phone number :)

I hope your stiff neck, headache, and seeing spots gets better. After that you can concentrate on getting the roadster fixed. Make sure the insurance company uses ORIGINAL body parts.....otherwise the offer I made at Bonneville to buy it is off the table. I will take my $175,000.00 and go in a different direction.

    Good luck, Dennis

Man that suck ass! Glad your ok. Thats one of my fears with living in the city. To many assholes that don't know how to drive.

  24. if you don't have any witnesses' I would suggest 'having a witness' if you know what I mean. I just had a lady back into me in a parking lot while I was in the car honking the horn b/c I saw it coming. She told her insurance company that I hit her... My damage is less than my deductible so I'm SOL. Luckily she had no damage or I suppose my insurance would go up. I pitched the biggest fit with her insurance agent and at the end of the call I mentioned that I could have easily "invented" a witness but I thought I'd rely on the truth, he responded with, "you should have invented a witness!" Bastards.

man, thats rough. I was looking at a 32 5 window in a shop the other day that was rearended at 65mph while it was stopped, then it rolled down a hill. The guys who owns it plans on fixing it tho. So, at least your ok, and the car isnt a write off! i guess your next project was just decided. thats just to worst luck tho, sorry man. best of luck to you in the future!

This is why we carry agreed value insurance. If your insurance is on the hook for what that car is really worth, your insurance company will get you your money. The only thing that scares an insurance company worse than a doctor is another insurance company. Glad your okay

Man, if I would have been in another car on that road, not even knowing you or that you were a Hamber, I'd have gotten out and kicked the guys ass for you!!!

I too got hosed, in '87 I had a '67 Mustang 'vert that was just getting ready to go for paint and a lady in a S-10 Blazer blew thru a light in Rio Rancho, NM (right at the light where Intel is) doing 45 heading north and t-boned me in the passenger door and pushed me sideways into a red '68 GTO that a 16 year old kid was driving and had just had it restored for a month. Totalled all three vehicles, she hit me so hard, it spun her truck around and her driver's quarter panel hit MY driver's quarter panel. About a year and a half later I had back surgery because of the accident (passenger seat hit me in the side and my right butt cheek was on the passenger seat on my seat) and had already settled. Worst part was, she worked for her insurance company, the best part, at least she had insurance, it apparently wasn't manditory back then.
