First, congrats. Keep doing your thing.

Second, I'd look at a drop axle and reversed spring eyes, front and rear. Easy and cheap changes. When time permits, more modern wheels/tires - like 1935 wires and bias ply bigs-n-littles. I love the 19" wheels, but mostly on speedsters.

Yup - that's what I wuz gonna say. The only part that pissed me off was that you were outside working on your rod in the sun, and I've still got damn snow on the ground.

leave the fenders black with bare metal body. it will help with the old time look of original stance and the wires.

looks great man, i too would leave the fenders black... it would help its originallity... plus if those were bare metal too i think it would be too much...

Not ******* me off, but I think it's pretty damn stupid to strip decent paint off to run bare metal... The 4.3 is fine, it'll move it down the road... what did you do for brakes?

Thank you for all of the interest.

The blue paint was not as good as the pictures suggest ... quite old with a lot of cracks and peeling.

Yes, I plan to run the black fenders (all 4) and running boards.

I am looking for front hubs/brakes - any suggestions?

I'm finding a small amount of swiss cheese in the normal spots. Not enough to do patch panels. How would you fill these holes?

    Thanks,

  26. hell, I have ramblers, who am I to say.. I join the chorus above.. part of the whole deal is to be happy with what you have, and how you built it..

The really small holes (pencil lead sized ones or smaller) I would back up with a hunk of br*** and weld the hole closed, anything bigger and I would cut it out and make a patch (looks like you could drill each of the larger holes and clusters of holes out and make round patches to fit). Less shrinkage that way, less likely to warp anything. Of course you should take the wire cup to the inside too before you weld it, but the holes will probably get bigger then.:(

  29. You lost me at bare metal. The MORE this is done, the LESS of these cars will survive for future generations. Me, I don't get it. If ya love cars, why remove the protective coat? When I get an old car, I try to stop the aging process, not speed it up. But, if you're having fun, go for it. It's your car, and noone elses

  30. Gee wizz, then nobody would get pissed off. I think it would be neat to get a restoration-ready car and hot rod it with mostly bolt-ons, keeping the old paint. This is where I bite my tongue and not say, "I would have....."
