They were saying the same things years ago about Big Daddy Roths cars in the 50's and 60's too.

My advice: Dont drink and HAMB at the same time!

I'm sure that the craftsmanship is flawless, as are all Foose cars. He wanted it to look like an airplane and it looks like an airplane, mission accomplised!. In fact it looks a lot cleaner then most "airplane cars" out there, and if I have to see another one it will be one to many. The idea has been done to death!. If a guy wants a car that looks like an airplane....buy an airplane!. And PLEASE ladies and gentleman, lets leave the "Theme" **** to the masters of creating over priced themed junk.....O.C.C. At least Chip didnt glue any rockets to it!.

I think it's pretty cool. I agree the spinner is a little ungainly in pictures but I would like to see it in person. At least it doesn't have a Farmall grill shell.

This car has some really neat stuff in it. As far as the details go Chip nails all the small stuff that make a great car. However, that grill...
I think it ruins the look of what would be a bad *** car. That being said I don't think I would even have the balls to attempt a theme car.

I could be wrong because a couple of companies did these but I believe this is a Leyat. Here's a better looking one at Goodwood

    http://www.goodwood-festival.com/2000/Main%20Pages 2000/gr2k28b.htm

The prop is what moves the car forward, like a plane stuck in infinite taxi. The idea didn't really catch on for the obvious reasons (unless you're looking for alligators, then you could count airboats).

For some really cool airplane inspired cars, google "Voisin"

    Like this one:

PS: Thanks for the back up photos Scooter, that car is truly kick ***, especially where he got creative about how to deal with something that was in the way. I love the slots in the frame for the steering and radius rods and the shift lever.

The first time I saw this car, I thought it would have looked killer with a Foose designed and top notch scratch built track nose! I dig the rest of the car, even the side windows, I think they're tasteful unique and probably functional at keeping out some wind. Janne's version I like as well and you could probably drive it longer than 10 miles like that.

Just let the guy build what "he" wants. If you dont like it... build one cooler! I will look at yours too... I for one like a new idea.

It's cool, but I think it would have more of an impact if it was more of a tip of the hat to aircraft styling and less LOOK AT MY CAR WITH A HUGE PROP BOLTED TO IT.

    Kind of like El Bozito.

  16. I think the rest of the car looks pretty cool, but that nose cone and grill kind of wreck the whole front end. If they put just about any other grill on the front, it would look a whole lot better.

    I actually like that windshield.

He shoulda put one of these nose gunner bubbles on the front instead of that nose cone thing. Perfect for rush hour traffic

I agree 100%, let the crtics post a picture of their own project when they rip someone else's so we each can give our "opinion".

I think the nose would have worked better if it was minus the half a deuce grille look going on underneath it. More nose, less squarish shape would have made it a better approach.

If anything, I would have emphasized the nose cone even more. I mean, if you're going to go that far with the aircraft theme, don't half *** it. In fact, I think if the nosecone was reworked and possibly the radiator shell mimicked a track nosed t mixed with the front cowling of an actual warbird, it might not sit right out there and look so damn goofy. Otherwise, I think it's ***s. Then again, I'm a ****er for an old warbird anyway.

Great... 9 pages and people still don't like the cone...

I think we've explored all the minute, subtle nuances of this mystery shrouded in an enigma... We've really gotten to the meat of this issue and digested and redigested the life-giving juices that contemplating a problem such as this can provide...

I dub this new theory of life "The theory of the Noseth of Cone"...

Do you feel richer?? ...Cause I feel richer for this discussion... Definately richer...

Kilroy, if you've had enough of this thread, just move over to the thread "The Latest Issue of Hot Rod Deluxe......."

and you'll be richer than Bill Gates by the time you are done......!!!

P*** the popcorn and hold on till another tech week...........LOL!!!

  24. I have the issue of Street Rodder and pay them for the magazine. Why should I have to go to their website to see the rest of the story? Anybody can do that and not pay for the magazine! It pisses me off.
I think the car is cool, lot of fab work. I wouldn't build one that way myself.

I think the car looks great, nose cone is a little out of place, but it's different. I wonder if there is ONE person that could build a car, and EVERYONE like it ??? I doubt it, thats what makes everyones stuff DIFFERENT.......just **** that fits the build. Someone had a dream, and there it is P-32

  26. Well, we had hot rods, then rat rods.. is this the next trend? WTF do we call them, rivet rods? Street fighters?

The car's well done, I'm in with the group that wants to give the car a mastectomy though. But you can't knock the guy for doing something different with a '32, I mean how many ways can you do a '32 Ford roadster that still looks like a '32 Ford roadster?

Edit: I wonder what it would look like with a Stude nose bullet photoshopped into that cone. Of course then you'd have to put a superchanged 289 into it, but...

I would but I'm not sure why anything in the current version of Hot Rod Deluxe could possibly interest anyone signed up here...

This could have been a pretty good thread, if we'd gotten beyond the nose cone but it's been 9 pages of the same comment...

The thread goes away for a couple days and then we get someone's enlightened razor-sharp observation about how the cone ****s to bring it right back to the top again....

I'd really like to see a shot of the turnbuckle steering... I remember seeing a pic of it in one of the other "Nose Cone ****s" posts about this car but if someone could post them again, that would be cool...

C'mon Unk... That was just a couple pages ago...

In another nine pages, I'm sure someone willn't have answered your question...

I generally don't read magazine articles unless looking at the pictures counts, so I wouldn't be the one to do the investigative work to find the rest of the article.... But I'm sure you can trust the detailed nature of the editor to have in fact included the 'rest' of the article later...:D

If they put the whole interview in the magazine,
they wouldn't have as much room for advertising.

So the magazine says look on the site.
    If it is there,I can't find it.
