John Fitch, oft-mentioned in a few threads here on the HAMB, is the dictionary definition of a gentleman. He's getting screwed by the state of Connecticut. Read about it here and if you can do anything (especially if you're a resident of that state) please help. This man is a pioneer in so many ways. To keep it on-topic, he's done time on the salt...if his other accomplishments aren't enough to make it relevant here... http://velocetoday.com/news/news_92.php (Ryan, delete if this is too much...I know the place has been inundated with odd o/t help requests as of late. What a shame. About two or three winters ago I had the pleasure of meeting him at a Documentery about his most recent attempt @ a Speed record @ Bonniville , held at Larz Anderson M.O.T. . I have never met a more genuine guy. He was happy to autograph anything you wanted and talk with you. Some of his accomplishments are with Corvette Racing @ Sebring in the early 60's and helping with the design and building of Lime Rock Park Racetrack, as well as many racing safety inovations. He is truly an Icon in the history of racing and a fine person.
John Fitch is one of my heros! This guy needs to be appreciated for his contributions and not beat up! It is a sad day when this kind of eco-bullshit destroys a good person's waining years....
This BS could happen to ANY of us and we are screwed...for doing the RIGHT thing. Thanks to a bunch of people who knit for a living who are insentive to not only John, but to ALL of us. Pisses me off.
Sounds like the state government has some minor "kings" overstepping their bounds. I see a lawsuit, and then the government will look stupid. Unfortunately, it may be after Mr. Fitch passes away. BASTARDS!
