A few of the restored AWB cars are certainly over-restored. Just as I stated earlier and you concurred ... the owner gets to decide how it is done.

  3. Dennis keep the shots of those '62s coming. Here is another shot of a '62. Gas Ronda's '62. Origin of this photo is unknown. This car has supposedly been restored. Anybody have any current photos?

Mike looks like you got the photo posting under control.

  8. Mike, is that the "REAL" '66 Gas Ronda longnose I see in the background? Can you give us an update on that car?

Yes it is the real one I sold it and the 1965 Gas Ronda A/FX Mustang a couple of years ago and it is nearly done.

  11. Thanks, I didn't know you had sold them. I can't wait to see the finished product. Does the same person have both the '65 & '66 Gas cars now?

Who said this was a Chevy thread...............:confused::confused:

  13. If that was directed at me I never said to stop posting the Chevy photos. I just said it was leaning toward the Chevy brand a bit and I asked for some Galaxie photos. In fact I believe I provided you some Strickler info via a PM. If I remember right Dave Strickler drove Chevrolet's except for '64-'65. Post all the Chevy info you want. I like them all!!!!!!!!!! I think I even posted some Chevrolet photos...

  15. So true, unfortunately. I dig this body style - like the dropped hood center on these and the pinched grille too. Do you have any more photos or information on this car? The rear wheel well radius and the missing front bumper make the car appear lower and fast just sitting there.

    Great photo contributions!

That photo of the Golden Commando unrestored car gives me a tingling sensation!! I love it! IT's amazing how many AWB cars were built back then. Super Cool;)

It was a great time in drag racing during1965-66 and into '67 when alot of those cars were being reworked ... and for the ones that weren't getting cut up too. The big open competition S/S-F/X meets here in the NJ-PA-MD area were great. 1963 was one of my favorite years for S/S-F/X though. The place to be in the early sixties was down South. Big S/S-F/X meets and match racing were happening there before the one that everyone talks about, the 1965 S/S Nationals at York. That scene drew Nicholson, Beswick and many others there. The Daytona winter meets were as big as the S/S Nationals but without the coverage and "Woodstock" free-for-all feel.

I remember going to a big S/S-F/X meet in May at York and there were only a handfull of the AWB cars, most were 2% or stock WB S/S-F/X cars. The only factory Ford was Phil Bonner's A/FX Mustang and because the ban was on and the classifications setup, he didn't run against any of the AWB Mopars. Bonner ended up having a number of problems that day. The May '65 meet was really a warm-up event for the first 1965 S/S Nationals later that Summer. By the time we came back for the S/S Nationals in August there were alot more AWB cars and many of the S/S and F/X cars and brands had altered wheelbase configurations of all kinds. Most of the Mopar AWB cars, if not all were there. Wish I had my camera that day.

I was sorting thru some pictures and came across this Z-11. Does anyone know anything about it ? The names aren't familiar.
