they have fully transparent rims now too... saw it at a SEMA show ... it looked funny being able to see the rotors move and stuff...
My guess in the 60s. They were made in Ypsilanti Michigan. I've never even seen 'em advertised in a mag let alone on a car. They are NOS. The rims are black rubber, I did drive the car with them on a short distance on the highway but I don't trust them to stay on. I'll get better pictures of them, they really are wild looking.
Unclescooby had a set here in the cl***ifieds a few months ago. I just missed them (damn). I think he said they went to Marcy. I saved the photo, though.
Do they come in different sizes or just 14" ? If someone had some 15's they would want to part with I'd be interested. Never ever heard of them until just now. Freakin' wild.
La Grasta I just bought that first print from Getty Images, it wasn't cheap, but it was worth it. My Capri is the sporty sister of the Consul in the picture. Your Falcon is one of my main influences for getting that car done.
My Uncle and I were walking by your car at Billetproof and both of us at the same time, WTF????? After serious inspection we both determined they were covers off a cheesecake tin..........Seriously, those are way kool.......Those tinted ones are even kooler!
How much would somebody pay for repops? I have a big thermoforming machine, I could use a wok as a mold...
Funny......today everybody seems to think those wheel covers are cool, but back in the day they died quickly 'cause people didn't like them. Just an idle thought.
there are 2 red ones on ebay right now with a decent buy it now.. comes with 3 clear tops.. i was watching em then saw this thread.. maybe someone wants em
They are tinted blue, the other set are green. I kinda figured they were a flop, as most ****y thing are.
