my friend ratramon a fellow hamber has a 53 Packard 4 door. he's in the middle of chopping, converting to 2 door and making it a hard top. anyone out there doing or have done similar. if so please post pics
NFL Hall of Fame player & coach Mike Ditka has a bathtub Packard convertable with a 454 big block in it thats really nice
Yikes! that's a lot of work. Have him buy this one: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=213590 it'll save him a TON of work. I also have a nice 53 Patrician available as a donor if he wants the big straight 8! Thanks Dave
I converted a nice 4 door mild custom Packard I originally built for a customer, into this Radical custom, chopped, converted to a 2 door (the wrong way....still has 4 door front doors) and other "bad stuff". Last time I posted it I got a lecture from Dr J about whoring out my work. Anyway, look for some things "not to do"!
I did the 41 packard gable, also the pink 56 packard, and im currently doing a 58 packard concept for john "D" for 09 Ill try to post some pics soon.
That '41 'Gable' is beautiful. My friend is putting a 454 ci Chevy engine in his car too, he drove the hell out of the streight eight. i'll post some pics as soon as i get a camera.
Great lookin cars..Packards are kinda new territory..I have a 53 2DHT like the black one..just took the straight eight out and am looking for the right clip/engine combination to go back in..I have a later 352 Pack OHV V/8 I might go with..the HAMBr that did up the one for his Monza and Bonneville is blazing a new trail!....
Packard built a bunch of factory concepts in the early '50s that certainly were thought-provoking, here's one:
Here's some more of those Packard concepts. Some of 'em are a bit out there, but I think most are damned fine lookin'. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj187/psychosuede/1956_Packard_Predictor.jpg This is my old girl I'm getting started on here shortly.
Hey-ya Dave! Yeah, I've seen that one. She's a beauty. The proportions are a little wierd with that long rear deck (you could picnic on that thing), but still a looker. Here's the strangest Packard I've come across. Meet George Jetson.
i think i just ****ed my shorts!!! thats gotta be the most beautiful things ive EVER beheld!!!! Different year but still cool
I realize this is old thread but I am looking for info on installing a 454 in a 53 Packard Mayfair cpe. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, ja
This car also includes a supercharged straight eight. It was a factory custom. The car itself has quite a history too. Vintageride
