I'll preface this story by telling you that I'm 21 and my daily is a pretty clean supercharged Civic. I know, I know, but at least I got into real cars first and got the Honad only because of the low cost-to-own and it does run mid-14's and gets 30+ mpg. So anyway, on my way home from work today I was told that I drive a piece of crap by a 16yr old kid in a Mazda that didn't have a straight or rust-free body panel. His front fender was litterally falling off and flapping in the breeze and he wants me to race him down a busy four lane road in the suburbs where I know for a fact nobody knows how to drive. Who on earth could have raised this kid so incredibly and horribly wrong? And this stupidity seems to be an epidemic! What is going on? I know kids are stupid, I'm pretty much still one myself, but it seems like I have tons more common sense than everyone else about my same age. I don't know if the loads of lawsuits and litigation have succeded in protecting all the stupid people from themselves and so they don't have any sense of consequence or if the gene pool really is just getting shallow, but it seems like this place is going downhill in a hurry. Just needed to vent and I figured there's bound to be a few others out there who feel about the same way.
I think there are alot of folks out there that should not be aloud to reproduce. Stupid parents make even stupider kids and so on
Those kids who have that itch to race anyone anywhere, even if it's in a crowded highway, are retarded. Bottom line. I have a friend who regularly cruises at 110 or more in his prelude and will race you at the drop of a hat. Ive stopped trying to talk any sense in him. Most of these kids either have no regard for themselves, or havent realized they aren't invincible. Have I done a few dumb childish acts of irrisponsibilty in a moving vehicle? yea, but kids like your mazda bonehead just fuckin puzzle me.
Every generation has it's share of s#&t heads. This generation is no different than mine (I'm 64). Some will grow out of it. Some never will.
Ive got a hot rod! 63 Comet that I put a 289/t-5 in. I've already prepped an econo axle and its ready to go in I just have to wait until business at the shop where I work dies down a little. Didn't see that comin did ya?
Stupidity in an individual will usually take care of itself,,,the only problem with that is sometimes it takes one of us with them. At least you seem to have common sense,,,,use that and get a hot rod,,,your life will be more fun! HRP
You sound too smart to not have a cool old car. Keep your Honda for daily driving and work and stuff (get rid of visual performance clues though). But also get a cheap cool old car or truck and enjoy getting some good reactions from people such as waves and hi's instead of knucklehead challenges by dumbasses. You would be even more amazed about how NICE most people are when they see a cool old car/truck or hotrod. you get a cool old ride and my guess is you won't want to drive the Honda around as much.
unfortunatley, there are those who are either ingnorant, arrogant, or absolute fools in EVERY generation... Learn to spot the difference: teach the ignorant, let your actions humble the arrogant, and leave the fools to their folly (never worth arguing with a fool- makes you look like one).
People like that are worthless, its okay though you can get your laughs next time you see him flipping your burger at the local McDonalds.

Tell me about it. I've been 16 for about 7 months. Retards do exist, especially at my school. This kid sounds like every other 'tard at my school. Every day at the 2:30 bell I see these kids bolt across the parking lot, hop in their mom's minivan, turn the key and slam on the gas. I swear it takes these kids less than 30 seconds to move from the time the bell rings to the time they're off school premises. The old truck and I are generally the last ones to leave. Start up time... warm up time... Restart up time... Shift into 1st time... Okay now we're ready to go! I leave when the late buses leave.
Once you get the comet done people will tell you your out ruining a great car your dad must have built.
Screw the lazy, unmotivated, spoiled youth of America! That's a generalized statement. I know there are exceptions to this comment and is why I appreciate the guy who's currently dating my 17 y/o daughter. Yes, as long as anyone is willing to stop and take interest in learning I'm extremely patient. Expect something done for you and it will never happen from me.

There is a REALLY funny movie about this called "idiocracy". You'll have to look hard to find it, but its worth it. There are idiots in every generation. I'm 26 now, but when I was 17 I hit a pole at 150-ish Km/h ( 90 miles? ). Learned my lesson real fast. A guy I was at school with wrote off 11 cars in that year alone.
I love these kinda idiots. especially when they try to rev on you at the light and are so busy trying to look cool that they didn't notice the cop parked just up the street as they launch from the light. Then I just idle buy in my hotrod wave at the cop and just smile at the moron behind the wheel while he's trying to explain what he was doing.
What gets me is that you hear stories about the good ol days and get stories about street racing, car crecks,building up hot rods for little money and..... I think it is coming full circle just a different time and cars. Nothing wrong with imports, they are cheap and alot of aftermarket parts just like in the 40's and 50's. Just like in the 40's and 50's there where retards just like there are today. I know alot of people that drive imports and dream about having a traditional hot rod but most young kids can not afford it, so they do what they can. I'm 16 and don't care nothing about racing. I just tae it easy till I find a mud hole deep enough to get stuck in.
Seems to me that stupid people reproduce the most. They're not all busy with working, and succeeding and stuff... plenty of time to screw, and sit around and drool.
At age 17 i have totalled one truck, wrecked two blazers and recieved two speeding tickets both for 10 mph over on the interstate. the strange thing is i wasnt doing horribly unresponsable things when the accidents occured strangely enough. I even got a $550 neglegent driving ticket for backing into a truck. But i do agree, my driving responsability has grown becuase of these occurences. the truth is the brain isnt fully developed until you are around 25.

I am a firm believer in mandatory (but reversible) birth control. When you are old enough or mature enough to breed, then you get to. Forget about religious stuff, the reality is in the US less than 50% of high schoolers graduate, so what are they doing? sitting around and screwing all day. Idiots creating more idiots and living off the gov't dole. It has to stop somewhere..or maybe I should learn Chinese.
