Hello, it's been a while, but I'm back with more ambition, and a little money to get back to work on my Edsel. Anyways, project #1 is to get the carbs figured out. I've got the first rebuilt, need to rebuild the outer two carbs next. Now is there anything special to make the outer two carbs secondary? I was watching something on "Speed" about making the later GM Rochesters secondary, is there a way to do this on a Holley 94 setup, or does it just idle on all 4 carbs? I think I've got the linkage figured out though. I'm gonna get 3 of the extended shafts, and a progressive linkage. Seems simple enough. Last question, fuel line. I like the red line that I've seen on a buddy's 32. Now how would I go about that? If you look at my pic below, there's not really a good place to mount a distribution block. On the firewall, right below the wiper motor, that's where my gas pedal linkage is, so that's not a good place. There a good block that I can use on a fabricated bracket on an intake manifold bolt or something like that? Also, what does everyone use for clamps on the red line? I don't want to use the band type that i use on my later cars. Sorry for some of the newbie questions here, just now getting into the period stuff. My last car was 70's period, now I want more 50's.
A couple of things to make the end carbs secondary - since you are going to run progressive linkage, screw the idle mixture screws all the way in. Get plugs for the power valves. There are special secondary throttle plates (Speedway, Vintage Auto), not sure if these are actually needed but I used them in my 3 x 2 setup.
Okay cool, guess I'll order the linkage, extended throttle shafts, and secondary plates in the next week. I'll also get the power valve plugs, so I should be fine with the stock power valve in the center carb?
